In view of the forecast that heat wave is likely to sweep Maharashtra in the next few days, the state government asked people, especially those from Vidarbha, Marathwada and central regions, to take adequate precautions to tackle heat.
“We have a forecast of heat wave starting today till May 21. Average temperatures in the state, especially in these three regions, are expected to rise by about 2 to 3 degrees,” Suhas Diwase, director disaster management cell said.
“We have issued directives to the District Collectors asking them to ensure that people should take preventive steps,” the official said.
“People should avoid going out in the sun between 12 PM and 3 PM. They should also drink more water, even if they are not feeling thirsty,” he added.
