In a disturbing incident from Mumbai’s Mankhurd area, an 11-year-old boy was attacked by a pit bull, leading to the arrest of the dog’s owner, police said on Sunday. The attack, which occurred on Thursday night in the eastern suburbs, sparked outrage after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
According to police, the accused, 43-year-old Sohail Hasan Khan, allegedly let his pit bull loose on the child who was playing inside a parked autorickshaw in a residential neighborhood. The boy sustained injuries to his chin from the dog bite.
The viral video captured the horrifying moments of the attack, showing Khan laughing while the dog mauled the child, with bystanders appearing to find amusement in the brutal act.
Following a complaint filed by the boy’s father, a case was registered against Khan under relevant sections of the IPC. He was arrested on Friday and subsequently released after being served a legal notice.
