Rahul Gandhi1Sounding the poll bugle for the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi declared that Captain Amarinder Singh would be the party’s chief ministerial candidate and alleges that Badals are responsible for the drugs menace in the state of Punjab.

After Rahul Gandhi Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public gathering in Jalandhar and said some people are maligning Punjab’s youth just to gain political mileage here.

The Shiromani Akali Dal-BJP alliance has ruled the state for the last 10 years and this time, they will face-off against a debutante Aam Aadmi Party alongwith Congress, their traditional political rival.

Mr. Gandhi slammed the Badals, saying they had destroyed Punjab and it’s due to their misdeeds, youth were in grip of drugs. “We will bring in legislation to fight drugs and make provision to confiscate properties of all those who are behind the drug menace in the State.”

“After Badals came to power in Punjab, they took everything — Punjab’s water, energy and resources and divided amongst themselves and left nothing for the people of Punjab,” he said.

“Amarinder Singh has given his blood and sweat for Punjab. He has worked day and night for the development of Punjab. He has always worked for the Punjabi and Sardar community. He is going to be our chief minister,” Gandhi said.

Cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia, the younger brother of Union minister and wife of deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal Harsimrat Kaur Badal, represents Majitha.

Captain Amarinder Singh is all set to fight the assembly elections against the SAD head and Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal from Lambi. Punjab will go to the polls for 117 seats in a single phase on February 4. Votes will be counted on March 1.

“For the last three months, I am being targeted but they must understand I am not going to relent. I am fighting against dishonesty,” said PM Modi.

Attacking at Navjot Singh Sidhu, PM said, “Dal badalna chunavi utsav hai. Congress party is full of such people. Congress is history. The party’s ship is sinking. Will people vote for such a party.”

“Congress is a spent force now. The party is breathing its last. Congress is restless for power just like a fish without water,” PM Modi attacked Congress.

Attacking on Capt. Amarinder Singh PM said, “This time also people of Punjab want to see Badalji as CM.”
