Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi finally broke his silence on the high profile Vyapam scam and questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘inaction’ in the case. Pointing out that Modi during Lok Sabha election campaign had vowed not to let anyone indulge in corruption but was now turning a blind eye on the massive scam unfolding in Madhya Pradesh.

“We all remember Prime Minister’s words when he said ‘Na khaunga aur na khaane dunga’. What you said Prime Minister should hold some significance. Why are you letting your ministers indulge in corruption. Why has no action been taken against Lalit Modi and Shivraj Singh Chouhan,” said Rahul.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is under fire over the multi-crore scam in his state and at least 49 people have died in the scam in the last few years.

Rahul also targetted Modi on the former Indian Premier League chief Lalit Modi row in which senior Bharatiya Janata Party ministers are embroiled. Union Minister Sushma Swaraj stirred a controversy by admitting that she had no objection to Lalit Modi’s request to travel out of the United Kingdom for his wife’s treatment.

Another senior minister and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje is under opposition’s attack for allegedly helping Lalit Modi to get stay permit in the UK.

Rahul asked the Prime Minister to bring back Lalit Modi.

The BJP hit back at Rahul saying lot of scams took place during former UPA government. “Rahul Gandhi is registering his presence in India. He has been away. Lot of scams took place during UPA rule,” said BJP leader Nalin Kohli.
