Government and private schools in the district that will register cent percent attendance in the new academic session, starting on June 15, will be rewarded, a senior district administration officer said on Thursday.
Zilla Parishad CEO Uday Chaudhari said each year the opening of new academic session in schools is celebrated as ‘Pravesh Utsav’ and this year too various programmes will be held to mark the occasion.
“This year, among all 1,374 zilla parishad-run schools and 120 private schools in Thane that will record 100 percent attendance on day one (on June 15) will be given certificate of appreciation,” he said.
On the eve of the school reopening, some officials of the education department and local leaders will also pay visit to homes of students, the official added.
School premises will be decorated and students will be given a warm welcome by teachers.
He said directives have already been issued to schools and officials regarding ‘pravesh utsav’.
