Self-proclaimed bachelors Modi and Jaya to meet soon!

J Jayalalitha will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on June 3, amid the buzz that she is in talks with the ruling BJP to join the central government. Smart move by Amma, respecting the sentiments of Tamil at the same time maintaining the communication lines with Center. She skipped Modi’s oath ceremony in protest against the presence of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Jayalalithaa thought that the invite to the Lankan president has deeply upset the people of Tamil Nadu and wounded their sentiments. There was actually nothing like that, moreover Tamilians were thrilled. Jayalalitha unnecessarily succumbed to pressure of Tamil groups and avoided Modi’s swearing-in-ceremony. These groups have taken lump sum money from Sri Lankan Tamilians and its supporters in the name of Tamil liberation and have done nothing but mere politics. While campaigning for the general elections, Modi and Jayalalithaa had attacked each other but they posted a spectacular win – Modi nationally and Jayalalithaa in her state – they exchanged warm greetings and congratulating each other. Modi and Jayalalithaa were known for their amicable relations since ages. In the past, both have attended the each other’s oath ceremonies as chief ministers.

Inspite of being under so much of pressure no one knows why should Tamilians entertain terrorists like Prabakaran & LTTE in their state? The Sri Lankan Tamils are not Tamil Nadu’s problem. Sri Lankan Tamilians are happy worldwide, however politicians in Tamil Nadu are not worried about the Indian citizens who are suffering but they are worried about Tamilians in Sri Lanka. Let the politician look after the Tamilians in India properly and then they could fight for the Tamilians in Sri Lanka. The CM of TN should understand that Narendra Modi had invited all the heads of governments of SAARC countries and, therefore, Sri Lankan President could not be excluded in this initiative. Perhaps it may help strengthen relationship between Sri Lanka and India and also enable the President of Sri Lanka to ban his army from attacking Indian fishermen. Jayalalithaa and the other TN political parties are just playing political expediency is understandable. The Government of India cannot be selective in sending out invitations. If they have invited one neighbour then it is obvious to send others. After all, Rajapaksa, despite his alleged acts of genocide, is the head of a democratically elected government and that cannot be ignored. This issue will blow over in due course of time and it will be business as usual.

Anyways, Jayalalithaa is the first CM to meet Modi officially. One has to forget the past and move forward for the betterment of the state. Modi has already prioritized his work and said to solve state issues first and in speedy manner. Let us wish that the Center – State relationship across the nation be smooth and mutually beneficial in the days ahead. Not only Tamil Nadu, but all the non BJP government or non NDA government ruling state will all be dealt in a fair manner. No doubt, Amma is a seasoned cool-headed politician. She knows exactly when to shed ego and where to approach at right time. Modi is set for next five years is the reality and may continue even another five years, according to the performance. So, it is the right time to patch up and forget enmity of election time. During campaign phase, she never uttered un-parliamentary word though she attacked him quite fiercely. Rather Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister West Bengal has used all the filthy language against Modi during election campaign. She was disagreeably using abusive language in public forum that no decent person was capable of tolerating such filthy language. Even, Modi was quite unkind to her during his political campaign. Anyways, if Congress would have managed 150 seats, Amma and Didi would have been major players in formation of UPA-III. Now, they will play crucial role in opposition alliance.

Modi government needs Jaya’s support because she has 10 MP’s in Rajya Sabha, in addition to 37 Lok Sabha MPs. Jaya should apply her cordial relationship with Modi to solve some important issues and meeting should not be to request withdrawal of cases pending against her. Jayalalithaa did not align with NDA, but even then she won 37 seats. We have to appreciate the fact that when it comes to state interest, she does not hesitate to meet PM and appraise of the problems faced by the state. Karnataka requires such type of leaders to protect the interest of the state. Jayalalithaa should force Modi to get help in tackling LTTE terrorists in state. She should ask Modi to enforce the Mullaperiyar dam level of 142 feet or more, so that, Tamil Nadu will receive continuous water supply. Modi being confronted many issues facing the country and states.

Moreover, the Sri Lankan Tamil issue is that nation’s internal problem which has to be solved by Sri Lankan Government in cooperation with Northern Provincial Council. However, strangely the Tamil Nadu political parties are demonstrating with satyagrahas, rail rokos, or any other agitations which would have no effect on Sri Lanka but inconvenience to the TN public. Besides Sri Lankan Jaffna Tamils are completely different than Indian Tamils who are in Sri Lanka in upcountry tea plantations. There are no marriages between them, absolutely no ties; Indian Tamils are considered low caste by Jaffna Tamils. Sri Lankan Government will find a solution to its Tamil problem and others should not worry about it. Seasoned politician like Jayalalithaa should focus on her own state rather than any other countries.
