Shivpal Yadav says will float new party after election results, dares Akhilesh to form government

Shivpal Yadav AVFormer Samajwadi Party (SP) state president Shivpal Singh Yadav on Tuesday announced that he would form a new party after the declaration of UP elections results on March 11.

“I will form a new party after March 11 when results (of UP Assembly elections) are out,” he told his supporters.

“You make the government, we will make a new party,” Shivpal, the warring uncle of Akhilesh, said.

Shivpal, who like Mulayam has expressed his unhappiness with the Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance, has also dared his nephew and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to form the next government in the state.

“What was the Congress’s condition before this? They could not even win four seats in Uttar Pradesh. What will our men do now?” he said at a rally in Etawah.

Samajwadi Party has fielded Shivpal Yadav from Jaswant Nagar seat in Etawah district, considered the home turf of the ruling Yadav clan.

“There were a lot of speculations but I have for now filed my nomination papers as a Samajwadi Party candidate,” he said.

Akhilesh, however, on Monday clarified that Mulayam will campaign for the party. Mulayam’s remarks came on the same day when Akhilesh held his first joint press conference and road show with Congress vice-president after stitching up an alliance in the state.

Shivpal also highlighted the work done by his ministry. “We ran the government for five years, was my ministry’s performance inferior to others,” he said.

Shivpal was sidelined after a very public feud over control of the party between Akhilesh Yadav and Mulayam Singh Yadav where Akhilesh got the upper hand. Shivpal sided with Mulayam. Prior to it, Akhilesh and Shivpal had a falling out over the re-induction of Amar Singh into the party and the attempt to merge jailed ‘don’ Mukhtar Ansari’s outfit Quami Ekta Dal with the SP.

Without naming Akhilesh, Shivpal alleged that he had insulted and humiliated and deceived Mulayam.

“Whatever I am today is because of Netaji (Mulayam) and your support. Many people have said that I am because of Netaji but the same people have insulted Netaji. The same people who are on high positions due to Netaji. They have money, fame everything and the same people deceived Netaji,” Shivpal said.
