The state government’s law and judiciary department has already issued a government resolution (GR) in this regard. All the district collectors have been asked to send the names of such students to the temple trust.

The education of such children will be financed from the issuance date of the GR.

“We have received the GR and we have already sent a copy to all district collectors asking them to send the details of such farmers and their children,” said Sanjeev Patil, chief executive officer of the Siddhivinayak Temple Trust.

The total annual proceeds collected by the temple add up to Rs. 65 crore.

Since 1997, Maharashtra has recorded 70,000 farmer suicides.
