The Thane Zilla Parishad will install hand wash stations in all schools of the district that come under its purview, a senior official has said.
The hygiene of school students in Thane is of utmost importance, District Education officer Meena Yadav said on the sidelines of a programme here yesterday.
It has been observed that there are no sufficient hand wash counters in schools as compared to the number of students in these institutions. Hence, it has been decided to install sufficient hand wash stations in the schools from this year, she said.
Yadav expressed hope that this will help the children keep themselves clean and tidy and free from health issues.
She said the zilla parishad education department was committed to ensure that no child was left out from school, and was working towards it.
“We also plan books in schools to inculcate reading habits among the children and as per the need of the schools the books are provided,” she said.
This will go a long way in inculcating the reading habits among children and we are going all out to implement this programme throughout the district, the official said.
