Three Maharashtra students abducted by Maoists in Chhattisgarh

Three Maharashtrian students, who were on a on a cycle tour in order to spread message of peace in the Naxal-hit areas, have been abducted by the Maoists in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district.

The students, who began their rally from Pune to Malkangiri of Odisha, have been identified as Adarsh Patil, Bilash Valake and Shrikrishna Shewale.

The Chhattisgarh Police has not confirmed any report of their abduction.

The Bijapur Superintendent of Police, however, said that he received information about their abduction from his Gadchiroli counterpart.

Based on the information provided by the Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police, the Bijapur Police is investigating the matter and making all attempts to locate the missing students.

The Maoists are said to be India’s greatest internal security threat.
