TMTIn a move that will benefit many bus commuters, the Thane Municipal Transport (TMT) body plans to add 10 more buses along the Thane-Borivli route. These buses were procured under the JNNURM scheme some months ago. This move will also help the cash-strapped undertaking earn some moolah.

Currently, the undertaking operates 15 services daily between Borivli to Thane. From this, the TMT earns nearly a lakh as the route has high passenger volume. The 10 new buses are currently awaiting a clearance from the transport department.

”The buses will be deployed along the Thane-Borivli route as it has a huge demand. The existing services are not sufficient to cater to the crowd. So, the extra 10 buses will benefit commuters,” a senior TMT official said. The buses will be parked at Mullabaug depot.

Commuters are happy with the TMT’s move. ”There are not enough buses plying to Borivli from Thane to meet the growing demand, especially during peak hours. It will be great if the number of TMT buses increase along this route,” said Shalaka Sawant, a commuter.
