Two engineers from Andhra Pradesh have reportedly been kidnapped by suspected militants from Dimapur in Nagaland.

The two men, Pratish Chandra from Vijayawada and Raghu from Nuzivid, were allegedly taken away on Sunday. A third man reportedly escaped.

Pratish was to take a train back home that day to see off his brother, who was going to the US.

His father told NDTV from Vijayawada that he had called from a borrowed mobile phone as was at a “jail” being run by rebels.

There are reports that the kidnappers have demanded a ransom of Rs. 20 crore, but Pratish’s father said he was not aware of it.

An MP of the state’s ruling Telugu Desam Party, Kambhampati Rammohan, said he had spoken to the Dimapur Superintendent of Police and also the Nagaland government and sought their help.
