Anil Galgali AVMRTP notices have been issued by MCGM on an unauthorised construction belonging to actor Amitabh Bachchan, and the amended plans submitted by the architect to the Building Proposal Department has also been rejected, revealed by the documents provided by MCGM to RTI Activist Anil Galgali. Another aspect that can be understood from the actions is that, the MCGM which is prompt in actions on violation by poor and ordinary people, seems to dither when actions have to be taken on violations by the rich and famous.

“I had sought information from the P South Ward Office of the MCGM about the MRTP notices issued against Amitabh Bachchan and others. In the provided information, it is clear that notices Under MRTP have been issued to seven persons including Amitabh Bachchan, Rajkumar Hirani, Oberoi Realty, Pankaj Balaji, Sanjay Vyas, Haresh Khandelwal , Haresh Jagtani on December 7, 2016,  for the variations observed in contrast of the approved plans,” said Galgali.

He also added that prior to issuing notice, a site visit was organised by the P South ward officials. During the inspection it was observed that in Wing no 2, 3, 5 and 6, the internal walls were not in places as per the approved OC plans, lifts were not installed, no internal works like fixing of tiles on the ground floor and staircases were done, plaster of walls was not done, no security grills on the staircase, balcony walls were not constructed, and many more. The basement works were also not as per the approved sanctioned plans.

On receiving the MRTP notices, the architect Shashank Kokil submitted proposal on January 5, 2017 which was rejected by the MCGM’s Building Proposal Department on March 17, 2017. The P South Ward Office also issued a final order on May 6, 2017 to remove the violation and restore as per original sanctioned plans. Thereafter, the Shashank Kokil resubmitted amended plans.

Galgali further said, “The P South Ward Office issued another letter on September 12, 2017 to the Building Proposal Department, informally alleging that due to non clarity on the regularisation proposal it is becoming difficult for the Ward Office to proceed further on the actions as per the MRTP Act and requested them to clarify on the matter.”

Galgali also addressed a letter to CM Devendra Fadnavis and Municipal Commissioner Ajoy Mehta demanding immediate action under the MRTP Act and carrying out the demolition of the illegal extension and enclosures. He further enquired actions against some specific officers of the Building Proposal Department who are secretly helpful to Kokil to get the illegal violation regularised.
