Why the case has not reached to any conclusion even today?
Indrani and Peter Mukerjea’s custody has been extended till May 9. Peter Mukerjea was arrested on November 19, 2015, nearly three months after the arrest of his wife Indrani Mukerjea, her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and her former driver Shyamvar Rai, who were arrested in August. There were many media trials and almost every day one sensational story was being published. Meanwhile police also claimed that they have all evidences against these four but later on case was shifted to CBI. Now the investigating agency took enough time but no conclusion was drawn in this case. Among other things, CBI has charged Peter Mukerjea with conspiracy in the kidnapping and killing of Sheena on April 24, 2012, and later burning and disposing of her body in the forests of adjoining Raigad district, around 90 km south of Mumbai.
Meanwhile Special CBI court Judge H S Mahajan gave permission to the central investigative agency to question Indrani Mukerjea, prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, in Byculla women’s prison.
A CBI official said, “We had sought permission to interrogate Indrani in jail as we have got some more material and we need to confront her with that.”
“Indrani gave full information to Peter about the conspiracy. He had knowledge and he was part and parcel of the conspiracy,” special CBI prosecutors Bharat Badami and Kavita Patil argued.
For the time being, CBI opposed Indrani’s husband Peter Mukerjea’s bail application stating that he was involved in the conspiracy. Since August many theories and stories surfaced in media about Indrani and Peter but so far no conclusion is drawn in this case. The under trials in the case are languished in jail but investigations are coming up in layers.
A police source told this paper it’s not easy case as police has no concrete evidences and CBI probe may takes years to come down to conclusion by establishing the motive of murder.
Though Mukerjea’s defense says its bad time for their client but soon their innocence would be proven.
Peter Mukerjea, wrote a love letter to Indrani on her birthday. Dated January 3, Peter, in the one-page letter, compared himself and his wife (another prime accused in the murder case) to lovers Romeo and Juliet.
Interestingly, on January 04, a day after this letter, Peter’s lawyers filed his first bail application, stating that Indrani befooled Peter and she was responsible for her daughter Sheena’s death.
