A young woman was charged by the Thane police for allegedly abandoning her new born child at a city hospital.
The 21-year-old woman Savita Jadhav allegedly abandoned her new born girl at a hospital in Kalwa on September 21 and a manhunt has been launched to nab her, API Sandeep B Bagul of Kalwa police station said.
The woman left the hospital without informing anyone, leaving her child in the hospital itself, he said.
The child is presently in the custody of hospital staff and they are taking care of the child, the officer added.
An offence has been registered against the woman under IPC section 317 (abandonment of child under 12 years, by parent or person having care of it).
