10th Newsmakers Achievers’ AwardNewsmakers will host the 10th edition of the ‘Newsmakers Achievers’ Award 2019′ on May 1, 2019, at the Rangswar Auditorium, Yashwantrao Chavan centre, Nariman Point. The award event is being held to recognise the efforts of common men who have made some difference to society through their hard work and determination. We have dedicated this year’s award event to help the “Kashmiri orphan girls’ education”.

Blessed are those children who have their parents — they grow up amid their undivided care and affection. However, there are thousands of unfortunate children who are deprived of the love and the reason behind their tragic fate can be many — natural disasters, conflicts, and above all, violence. Reports reveal that the continued violence in the Kashmir valley has raised thousands of orphans. Most of these children have nobody to look after and are mostly left to themselves. Moreover, an increased number of girl orphans pose many challenges to society and we think it’s our moral duty and social responsibility to lend our hands for the welfare of girl orphans.

Vaidehi Taman, the Group Editor of NBC and Editor-in-Chief of Afternoon Voice said, “Journalism is blotted today. People call it Bazaru, sold media, and yellow journalism as they don’t see honesty in the reporting. Whereas, we are parallel media, self-funded, and we are trying to live with our integrity and with no friend no foes. We criticise everyone those who does mistakes and we praise everyone irrespective of their political identity.”

“Our newspaper is not widely circulated and we are a small organisation. While people ask for honest journalism, they don’t adhere to that. The narrative of honest journalism is so confusing that keeping ourselves alive is a big challenge,” she added.

The Lifetime achievement award stands to highlight those individuals who have dedicated their lives to make outstanding and creative contributions in the respective fields.
