Thirty-nine innocent Indians perished in Iraq at the hands of the ISIS after they were kidnapped in 2014 & the confirmation of the news about their death now after four years comes as a shock. Government too handled the tragedy with a soft hand when all out efforts should have been made to save the victims at an earlier date. The families of the victims learnt about the death of their near & dear ones through TV channels which truly is hypocrisy of the top order & the least the govt could have done was to convey the news by sending representatives personally with condolences.
It is sad to learn that the tragedy has been politicised by shameless politicians by passing the buck on each other in parliament as well as TV studios. Indians working across the gulf & in some other African countries are not safe and the government should issue safety guidelines as well as protect them through our consulates there. May the soul of the 39 victims Rest In Peace is the prayers of most citizens today. Government on their part should offer a monetary purse to the victim’s family which might not lessen their sadness but at least the money would help them financially at a time when they have lost the bread earner of the family!
