Former US First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has found a supporter in none other than the incumbent US President Barack Obama.
Just a day before Hillary is set to declare her candidacy for US president; Obama has expressed confidence in her capabilities, and said that she would make for an “excellent president”.
Calling Hillary Clinton a friend, Obama recollected 2008 Presidential election race and said that even then she was a “formidable candidate”.
It can be noted that Hillary had lost the 2008 race to Barack Obama.
Obama, who is in Panama for a regional summit, also praised Hillary’s stint as the secretary of state.
“She was a formidable candidate in 2008. She was a great supporter of mine in the general election. She was an outstanding secretary of state. I think she would be an excellent president,” Obama said.
Obama’s comments come as Hillary is all set to launch her long-mulled candidacy for US Presidential Elections 2016 on Sunday with an online video.
