All 120 passengers have been evacuated and are at the arrival hall waiting for the baggage. The main runway of the airport has been closed.

Timely action by pilots of the AI620 Hyderabad-Mumbai flight following the incident saved the lives of 120 passengers on board.

The prompt measures by the concerned authorities prevented a potential disaster and the plane was towed away for repairs. Airport officials said around 7.30 a.m. when the flight was preparing to land, smoke was detected and it made an emergency landing as a precautionary step.

The cause of the smoke could not be immediately known, though officials denied there was a tyre burst.
