Anurag Kashyap avoids clash with RGV’s Veerappan; postpones Raman Raghav 2.0

Ram Gopal Varma’s next venture Veerappan would be clashing with his protege Anurag Kashyap’s film Raman Raghav 2.0 at the box office on May 27. However, now we hear that the latter has postponed the release of his film that will now release on June 24.

Anurag Kashyap & Raman Raghav-AVKashyap, who was mentored by RGV and has written films like Satya and others, before he moved on and created a niche for himself. The two filmmakers have publicly shared a love-hate relationship ever since. The two have also suffered from box-office failures in the recent past. Looking at their present situation, both the filmmakers in desperate need of box office hits.

After Bombay Velvet, Anurag Kashyap is all geared for his upcoming film Raman Raghav 2.0, which is based on the infamous serial killer. While on one hand, RGV’s next is also based on a dark character, the infamous Indian dacoit Veerappan. RGV’s trailer of Veerappan came out recently and has been getting good response on the web. Interestingly, both the films were scheduled to clash at the box office. In fact, Anurag had also tweeted about the clash stating, “Box Office is going to get very incestuous on 27th May It’s like a civil war of Andheri Aaram Nagar Versova on Box Office… Bhaago.”

Talking about the impending clash at the trailer launch of Veerappan, RGV had simply stated, “Let the best killer win”. But Anurag Kashyap has since avoided the clash and has moved the release date to June 24. Commenting on the same, an insider revealed, “Not wanting to affect the business of the film and having a solo release the decision was made.”
