The Indian Army has denied Pakistan’s claim that five Indian soldiers were killed and bunkers were destroyed on Saturday along the Line of Control as claimed by Pakistani army. A purported video of the incident, circulated by Pakistani army, is “false and fabricated”, the army said.

A tweet from a Pakistani army spokesperson claimed that the five soldiers were killed in cross-border firing on Saturday. Pakistan claimed it was retaliating Indian fire at Tatta Pani Sector. The 27-second video was released.

“There has been no casualty on our side. Two civilians, including a woman, however, sustained injuries in the ceasefire violation by Pakistan, which began at 11 pm on Friday and continued till Saturday afternoon. We strongly reacted to it,” said an officer.

Pakistan’s latest claim on Saturday came in the backdrop of widespread reports, though unverified, that five of its soldiers were killed and six injured in “retaliatory fire assaults” by the Indian Army across the Poonch and Naushera sectors along the LoC last Thursday.

“Video clip showing destruction of Indian posts on LOC by Pak Army in response to unprovoked Indian firing on innocent citizens,” he said in a brief statement with the video.

This is the second time in two weeks when Pakistan army released such a video.
