One journalist posed a question to Modi “What are the achievements of your government?” To this Modi replied, “Instead of asking this question to me, wouldn’t it be better if you ask the same thing to the common public, experts in political, economic and industrial fields?” As regards Rahul Gandhi, he is unable to digest the praise Modi is getting for the surgical strikes, demonetisation, Jan Dhan Schemes, 8 crore toilets build for poor mothers and sisters, free LPG scheme,  insurance schemes, healthcare facilities, LED bulbs, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, etc. The Congress is worried that PM Modi will seek a second term in office in 2019. Rahul fails to understand that PM Modi is solving the problems inherited from Congress governments. Congress and other political parties may be nervous because of the courage and willpower shown by Modi for his steps against black money through demonetisation. When BJP is on preparations for Lok Sabha elections next year, the opposition has planned to bring Modi’s ratings down.

After BJP emerged victoriously in the no-confidence motion, PM Modi rightly tweeted that “NDA has the confidence of the Lok Sabha and the 125 crore people of India.  Our efforts to transform India and fulfill the dreams of our youth continue.” The manner in which the BJP has established its presence demonstrates how much popular faith it has won in the past four years of its tenure at the centre. The nation trusts Modi and so his policies should come up to the expectations and within the reach of needy and poor. BJP has received unprecedented support from all sections of society. In addition, the BJP not only held on to its social base but managed to attract a large number of voters from other communities. There was an unparalleled consolidation of upper castes and middle classes behind the BJP.  Modi is one of the most responsive political leaders in India. One would find that Modi believes in the fact that good infrastructure is the driver of economic development. He therefore, paid utmost attention on physical and social infrastructure and involved private sector in their development. His good governance with an astute administrator is being applauded within the country and beyond. The way he has won the hearts of people of India and his popularity will further boost his image.

Congress and opposition are making a trap for themselves, the result will boast more confidence for Modi government. Sonia and Rahul should focus only on the welfare of people in the Congress Controlled States and stop focusing on Modi. Don’t we think the Opposition needs to do a much better job at representing dissenting voices and not try to score unachievable political points at the cost of productivity? Opposition parties should get together and formulate where they stand on issues regarding the nation’s welfare and describe where and how they differ from the ruling party. Sanskrit caption on the Narendra Modi’s personal website says:  suryasya pashya shremaaNam yo na tandrayate caran || caraiveti |— Look at the Sun’s perseverance; dynamic and always on the move, never dormant … hence keep moving. Modi has the capacity to convert every adversity into an opportunity. His model of good governance is being applauded within the country and beyond.
