Australia’s domination against West Indies show they are back to their best

The current Australian cricket team have stitched together some breathtaking performances that have seen them dominate the world once again. The present scenario of their ability to play the game at the highest level have seen a lot of similarities that was visible under the era of Steve Waugh and Ricky Ponting.

Under the leadership of Michael Clarke and Deputy Steve Smith, the Aussies look well set to keep the Ashes with themselves when they take on England next month. A well balanced unit that boasts of world class individuals blew the West Indies in the two-match Test series to cast their magic spell. Their bench strength too comprises of experienced campaigners and it is something Coach Darren Lehmann will be proud of.

Australia’s run of winning matches have seen them enjoy a dream run in both Tests and ODIs. Since November 2014, the Aussies have taken cricket world by storm. Australia’s impressive run witnessed an ODI and T20 series win against South Africa at home. They beat India 2-0 in the four-match Test series before wrapping up the ODI tri-series involving England ahead of the World Cup.

They won the World Cup next at home and now beat West Indies to cap off a spell of outstanding cricket ahead of the much-anticipated Ashes series.

Steve Smith’s superb display with the bat in recent times has seen him top the ICC Test rankings for batsmen. His rise to the top is also contributed by the factor of him donning the captaincy role at a high level. Moreover, Mitchell Starc, who is the No. 1 ODI bowler showed high intensity in the Test series against West Indies and is expected to lead the attack once again in England.

The Aussies are second in world Test rankings and given their run, they look well in course to topple South Africa and take the crown of the best team in the longer format. The world champions are currently the best ODI team in the ICC rankings.
