They beat India 2-0 in the four-match Test series before wrapping up the ODI tri-series involving England ahead of the World Cup.

They won the World Cup next at home and now beat West Indies to cap off a spell of outstanding cricket ahead of the much-anticipated Ashes series.

Steve Smith’s superb display with the bat in recent times has seen him top the ICC Test rankings for batsmen. His rise to the top is also contributed by the factor of him donning the captaincy role at a high level. Moreover, Mitchell Starc, who is the No. 1 ODI bowler showed high intensity in the Test series against West Indies and is expected to lead the attack once again in England.
