Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to float tenders for new Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises very soon.

BCCI’s working group is currently holding discussions with franchise owners to prepare a roadmap for the 2016 edition of the cash-rich league.

“The process has to be transparent and in a situation like this, tenders will probably be floated inviting bidders for new teams,” a source said.

The working group is expected to study the Lodha Committee report and submit its findings to the IPL governing council within six weeks. However, board secretary Anurag Thakur hinted a solution could be found ahead of the deadline.

“As we have been allotted six weeks, we have lined up a lot of meetings over the next few days. Hopefully, we will complete our work before six weeks,” he said.

Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, two teams in the dock, will have to wait a bit longer to know what happens to their prospects of playing in the league as the working group is not expected to take a call on this matter as of now.

“These are decisions that will be taken over the next couple of weeks, but what we are insisting on is transparency .There will be no grey areas at all,” the source commented on the possibility of Kochi Tuskers making a return to the IPL.
