The scheduled all-important Working Committee meeting of the embattled Broad of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been adjourned on Friday due to the lack of legal clarity on the presence of Narayanaswami Srinivasan.

The former BCCI boss and current ICC chairman landed in Kolkata to take part in the crucial board meeting as a representative of representative of Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA).

It was widely reported that the fates of suspended Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals will be decided during the meeting, besides other key aspects on how to enhance the image of the sport vis-a-vis the proposed ninth edition of IPL.

But, the focus of the meeting had been shifted towards the issue pertaining to the presence of Tamil Nadu strongman who has been advised a Supreme Court constituted panel not to involve in matters dealing with Indian cricket. And high drama ensued ahead of the Kolkata meeting. Finally, the meeting was adjourned sine die minutes after it started.

Following the adjournment, all the issues have been reportedly deferred to the board’s Annual General Body Meeting, which is likely to be held in Kolkata on September 27.

Early this year, the apex court had expressed its displeasure over Srinivasan chairing of the board’s working committee meeting in Chennai.
