Karti Chidambaram’s arrest by CBI in money laundering and other financial scams exposes the wrongdoings of people in power as the son of former Finance Minister took advantage of his father’s position to loot the nation to the tune of several thousand crores. However, it does not come as a surprise and this has been going on in our country since independence. Politicians and their relatives have looted the nation which is the reason why our economy is in a bad shape today. The net worth of most MP’s is over 500 crores and many MLA’s are worth more than 100 crores and most of it is ill-gotten wealth made out of corruption and malpractices.
The citizens of the country are at the mercy of people in power and our country needs a revolution to come out of this loop where taxes paid by people get lost in various scams than used for public infrastructure and nation development. We need tough laws to punish the guilty and the Supreme Court should institute a special bench to deal with frauds of people in power.
