In a shocking incident, BJP leader Gulfam Singh Yadav was allegedly poisoned to death in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, after three unidentified men injected him with a toxic substance and fled. The 60-year-old leader was sitting at his farm in Daftara village under Junawai police station limits when the attack took place, police said.
According to Circle Officer (Gunnaur) Deepak Tiwari, Yadav was being rushed to Aligarh for treatment but succumbed to the poisoning on the way. “So far, no formal complaint has been filed by the victim’s family. However, a police team has been deployed to investigate the case,” he added.
Yadav, who had previously contested an assembly bypoll on a BJP ticket, was a known political figure in the region. His brutal killing has raised serious concerns about political violence and security threats in Uttar Pradesh. The police are yet to determine the motive behind the attack and identify the assailants.
