This refers to your editorial “Devendra Fandavis is the man of hour”. Kudos to Shiv Sena for emerging as the single largest party in BMC winning 84 seats and to BJP for improving its tally to 82 seats. BJP has made big gains in the Maharashtra civic polls, even as it was in a neck-and-neck fight with the Shiv Sena. Fadnavis has rightly said, “The BJP’s win in the civic polls is a result of people’s acceptance of our agenda of transparency”. It is clear that Fadnavis has single-handedly made BJP a tour de force in the state by wiping out every other political force except the Shiv Sena. It reveals that he has maintained his calm and clean image throughout his term. Post-demonetization, BJP has done well across India, be it rural elections as in case of Odisha or be it urban bodies. Time will show how transparent they are and how much development they will do.
