Blue versus saffron in UP

It refers to BSP leaders earlier accepting and garlanding saffron-coloured statue of Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar because of Buddha religion, then forcing to paint the statue blue due to protests. It is irony that politicians across the party-lines have coloured themselves in particular colours with BSP choosing blue and reserving saffron for BJP.

It is irony that BSP being itself guilty of colouring complete state of UP in blue during its regime, is amongst opposition parties of accusing BJP-ruled state government to paint the state in saffron. Such painting statue’s with the colour colour of political parties ruling the states has become a common phenomenon, even in other states.

Such colouring of institutions and buildings according to taste of ruling political parties is an unnecessary burden of state public-exchequers funded by hard-earned money of tax-payers, and must be avoided. It will be better if some specific colours are selected for big cities with consensus of ruling and main opposition party, similar to that of pink city- Jaipur, which will beautify the cities. Even private buildings then can be advised to paint exterior of buildings in a selected colour for the concerned city.
