Calvin Harris may have been hurt by Taylor Swift’s discrediting comments in the media, but it turns out the reason he unleashed that nasty Twitter rant dethroning the pop queen, is because he felt ’emasculated’ by the fact that she wrote his smash hit, This What You Came For,’ according to a new report. After Taylor, 26, let the secret out she had written her ex’s new single featuring Rihanna, 28, Calvin, 31, he reportedly felt even smaller in comparison to his superstar ex-GF. “It was a secret that she wrote the song. The secret came out and her rep confirmed it and that p***ed him off,” a source told UK tabloid, The Sun.
Calvin did mention that Taylor’s PR stunt was a way of making him look bad, so it’s understandable that he was upset. But Calvin has a history of feeling inferior when he was around the “Blank Space” singer, according to British newspaper. One time in particular, Calvin made the decision not to attend the Grammys with Tay in Feb. 2016! “There isn’t a better award you can get than a Grammy Album of the Year,” the source continued. “It’s the ultimate accolade you can receive as a musician. If you’re the kind of guy who doesn’t want to stand by your woman on an important night like that then you’ll also be the kind of guy that gets a bit p***ed off when your woman’s getting toasted for the biggest track of your career for the past five years.”
So as a way to get back some of his mojo, it seems that Calvin is going for the “professional jugular,” by attempting to show Taylor’s “true colors” in his rant. But speaking of professional jugular, Calvin had a similar drama with his ex-girlfriend, Rita Ora. The then-couple also had a public fall out at the 2014 Teen Choice Awards when Calvin banned Rita from playing their hit song “I Will Never Let You Down!” Whoa, that’s harsh! Rita also admitted that their relationship started to go downhill after the success of the single. Are we seeing a pattern here?
And that one move apparently hindered Rita’s career. “You don’t kill someone’s career. That’s one step too far,” a music insider at The Sun said. “That killed [Rita’s] album, not letting her release any of the stuff they produced for it.” It’s possible history is repeating itself, and Calvin is doing the same to Taylor! And for the most part, it’s been working! The hashtag, #TaylorSwiftIsOver has been circulating on the Internet for some time now and has gotten a load of traffic. Yikes!
