Congress gone one step ahead

Having won the Gurudaspur seat Congress wrests BJP pocket borough by 1.93 lakh votes and the pendulum swings in favour of the National party. This win is a big slap on the face of Akhali-BJP alliance in Punjab. It is believed that the farmer distress, demonetisation and GST came into play the triangular contest. Gurudaspur is a miniature India and the only city in Punjab with a Christian enclave. The original Sikh and Hindu settlers were refugees from Pakistan. It is good lesson for BJP to tighten their belts before the Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat elections. Amit Shah and co should not take anything for granted from now on and try hard to sail on Modi wave from hereon. The BJP had won the Gurudaspur seat in 2014 general election by a huge margin in the Modi wave and Vinod Khanna, who remained the MP from this seat four times, won the last election as well. It is really an eye opener and it is time to repair the damages caused in recent times with some remedial measures which can resurrect the BJPs image before things go out of hand. It is not an alarming situation but it is time to go all out and regain the lost prestige and make it a memorable one till the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Congress is one step ahead as of now but BJP can bring back lost glory in the available time with welfare measures and keep the people’s spirit high.
