The MCA International Cricket Stadium, Pune spectators could not have asked for a better display from the new leader of Indian cricket, Virat Kohli to blast a timely hundred and in partnership with Kedar Jadhav score 200 runs in record time and paved way for a dramatic win in the first one day match against England. Jadhav hit a hurricane 120 of 76 balls and carried on relentlessly with cramps in his leg. The bowlers were pelted to all parts of the ground and it was scintillating display of stroke play that thrilled the crowd and enabled Team India to achieve 351 runs target with 11 balls to spare. England after posting a score of 350 was in a driver’s seat and with 4 Indian wickets for mere 63 runs they smelt victory. Both Kohli and Kedar combined well to knock the sheen out of England pace attack and punished spinners with aplomb to make a match of it in the end. Morgan and company counted the chickens before they were really hatched and paid heavy price for complacency. For England Roy and then Root failed to capitalise on weak pace attack and score more runs to build a big partnership. Ashwin finished the game with a six and showed the depth in Indian batting. With a 3 wicket win, Team India has taken a 1-0 in a three match one day series.
