It is very much shocking to note that the senior citizens of India are not spared from any charges and taxes (read penalties) on their bank transactions like cash withdrawal and/or depositing cheque or cash, charges on lack of minimum balance, tax on usage of their debit cards. Their interest rate on the bank FDs has also been reduced. They have to pay higher premiums on their medical insurance policies, just because their age is above 60 years. Will all these non-justifying taxes, charges and premiums be scrapped soon?
