On Monday, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has issued summons to Mumbai’s famous Muchhad Paanwala in connection with the ongoing probe into various drugs cases in the city. It was reported that Muchhad Paanwala’s name popped during an interrogation of British national Karan Sajnani in a drug case.

According to the anti-drug agency Karan is a businessman who has been living in the country for the past fifteen months and was arrested along with Rahila Furniturewala who is a former manager of a Bollywood actress and her sister Shaista. The agency has seized a total of 200 kilograms of contraband from the accused and revealed it is one of the biggest such seizures in recent time.

NCB Regional Director Sameer Wankhede cited that Muchhad Paanwala’s name is amongst the top ‘paan’ vendors in Mumbai. Besides this, he is also a founder of Panditshree Shyamacharan Tiwari of Tiwaripur, Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh which is currently run by his four sons, including Jaishankar Tiwari.

The Mumbai based Paan shop is located at Kemps Corner, near Malabar Hill. The Muchhad Paanwala is in this business for more than 40 years and became a rage among the people. Starting from top film stars to businessmen to politicians or others for his lip-smacking post-meal chewy munchies and its huge variety of paan including Kolkata, Banarasi, or Maggai paans, with specially-sourced ingredients.

In fact, in 2016, it became the first ‘paan’ outlet to host its own website to take online orders from its customers.
