The decision to withdraw subsidy for Haj pilgrimage from this year (Modi government cancels subsidy for Haj pilgrims on January 17) and use it for Muslim girls’ education and upliftment, was a good decision by the Union government. Nobody should protest against this issue as Haj is a duty for a Muslim who can afford it financially and physically. If one has not enough money to do Haj, then it is not mandatory for him. It was also good to know that Saudi Arabia has agreed to allow people to go on Haj by ship, which is cheaper than flying. However, the Union government should reduce the enormous air fare before stopping the subsidy in haste.
