Maharashtra Navnirman Sena on Monday addressed the media at his residence Krishna Kunj in support of the Bharat Bandh to protest the rising fuel prices and lashed out the central government saying that the constant increase in fuel prices is a cover-up for demonetisation’s failure. Prominent MNS leaders like Bala Nandgaonkar, Avinash Abhyankar, Nitin Sardesai, Sandeep Deshpande also attended the meet.

MNS activists came on the streets across Maharashtra on Monday in support of the Bandh called by Congress. Raj Thackeray expressed gratitude to his party workers for actively supporting the Bandh. He said, “People might say that bandh was organised by Congress but I would like to say that rising petrol price is a serious issue. Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the government doesn’t have any control over fuel prices then why they were raising this issue during Congress government’s reign. The Rajasthan government has reduced VAT on petrol and diesel.”

Raj added that the government is imposing serious charges against MNS activists for indulging in protest activities. He warned BJP that they too will have to bear such consequences if they are out of power.

Raj attacked Shiv Sena for following double standards and lacking ideological stand. He said, “We supported Bharat bandh for a cause and are not concerned about which party organises it. Opposition should come together. BJP is worse than Congress.”

MNS has been raising several issues affecting the lives of the common man and the party is trying to revive itself ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
