Politicians should take a leaf out of Gautam Gambhir’s book who resigned as the ‘Delhi Daredevils’ Captain when he was not performing satisfactorily for his IPL franchise and even forgone his full remuneration running into crores as he believed his contribution was meagre compared to the amount his team owners were paying him. Such gesture is rare in today’s world where people even kill fellow citizens for money. A lesson for politicians too who warm Parliament benches without any contribution in spite of being ill at times and I believe they should pave a way for the youngsters in the Indian politics.
Gambhir’s voluntary gesture also has a hidden message for cricketers to perform or perish. BCCI should use the ‘carrort and stick’ policy of rewarding the cricketers for their outstanding performance and penalising those who fail time and again. Such a policy would pay rich rewards as money is a motivating factor and full marks to Gautam Gambhir for opening the eyes of all by taking the stick himself and proving that charity should begin at home!
