With the announcement of election schedule for Gujarat Assembly polls, both the BJP and the Congress have begun an elaborate exercise of candidate selection. The BJP’s State parliamentary board has been holding meetings in Ahmedabad to discuss potential candidates. It will make a panel of two candidates for each seat and then the final decision will be taken by the national parliamentary board. The election will prove the acceptance or rejection of demonetisation and the GST. Modi’s litmus test. Let us see if the Rs 1.1 trillion Bullet train will get BJP the votes, if not it will be the biggest failed election ploy in the history of elections. Since many parties are entering the election scene, the spread of vote share will see BJP back in power with a majority and Vaghela may join the main stream as a coalition partner once the results are announced.
