Bull taming sport ‘Jallikatu’ which is popular in Tamil Nadu but banned by Supreme Court is cruel and this outcry to lift the ban by protesters in the State should not be entertained. A bull is let loose in the crowd in the name of entertainment and people from the crowd are expected to catch hold of the horns of the raging animal which is truly madness. It is not just cruelty to the poor animal but may prove fatal for the people and this protest one thinks is ridiculous.
I was really shocked to hear former India captain K Srikkanth speaking in favour of ‘Jallikatu’ arguing that Boxing too needs to be banned if ‘Jallikatu’ is not allowed. Prime Minister Narendra Modi should not entertain Tamil Nadu CM on this sensitive issue when the Supreme Court has banned it and our highest court of the land has valid reasons for such a judgement. Better sense should prevail and protesters need to be educated why ‘Jallikatu’ cannot be allowed as a sport!
