Last year, Anil Kumble had defied all odds and imperial bias to assume the office of the Indian Cricket Team’s coach. This underlines India’s growing stock in the game and a true and fair method of selection. But somehow, Kumble is on a sticky wicket and BCCI is on the hunt for a new coach for the team. After a decent performance of the coach this is very shocking and becoming the talk of the town. Kumble replaced Ravi Shastri is a tough test as Ganguly played his card close to his chest to oust the latter. Now it is the turn of Kumble to face the music. As per the BCCI constitution, the coach or the captain attends selection meeting but they do not have a voting right. The constitution needs to be revamped and the board is likely to consider most of Kumble’s suggestions and now he is in bad books after he put up his proposal for increase in pay of players touching a high of 150% of the amount they get presently. Hunt for a new coach is on after the episode.
