Maharashtra Navnirman Chitrapat Karmachari Sena (MNCKS), the cine-wing of Raj Thackeray-led MNS, has requested the Police Commissioner to formulate “strict” laws regarding the work permit of foreign artists.

Shalini Thackeray-AVShalini Thackeray, working president of MNCKS, met Mumbai Police Commissioner Dattatray Padsalgikar last evening where he assured the formulation of an inclusive policy, which would resolve the foreign actors work permit issue.

“We have requested the Police Commissioner to lay down strict laws regarding the hiring of foreign actors. It has been found that many of these actors have been working in Mumbai without proper work permit. People hired without proper visas and work permits are a security threat to the state and the country as well,” Shalini said in a statement.

Recently, the film wing of MNS halted the shoot of actor John Abraham’s “Force 2” over the issue of foreign artists working without permits.

“To safeguard the country from anti-social elements, local police stations should be given an authority to cross-verify the documents of these foreign actors.

Subsequently, hotels across the city should be providing detailed information to the nearest police station regarding the check-in of these foreign tourists,” Shalini added.

Police commissioner said if the film industry is found flouting norms, strict action will be taken.

“No tourist visa allows any foreigner to work. So, if the film industry has been flouting these norms, strict action will be initiated against them. To stop such illegal activities, Mumbai police will try to bring in newer policies to combat the crime,” he said in a statement.
