Mumbai Police Joint Police Commissioner, Law and Order, Vishwas Nagare-Patil on Saturday termed the news of the implementation of Section 144 in Mumbai as a rumour. He said that this is wrong and it is creating confusion among the people.
In fact, on Friday, some media channels were quoting that Section 144 was implemented in Mumbai from December 4 to January 4 and under this many restrictions have been implemented in the entire city.
Joint Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangre-Patil said, “There is a rumour that Section 144 of CrPC is applicable in Mumbai. This is wrong and confusing. An Advisory is issued every 15 days for those people who want to disturb the peace by taking out rallies illegally in the city. It has no effect on the lives of the people.”
Vishwas Nangre Patil said, “I appeal to all people not to believe in such false rumours or spread confusion.’ Significantly, there was news on Friday that Section 144 has been implemented in Mumbai from December 4 to January 2. The decision was said to have been taken to ensure peace in the city and avoid any disturbance in public order.”
