The worst fear indeed has come true as the dead body of well known gastroenterologist Dr. Deepak Amrapurkar recovered from a drain in Worli. This is a murder caused by the negligence of the civic authorities and those responsible for leaving manholes uncovered. Human lives have no value in our country and Mumbai city in particular experiences such loss of lives each year for sheer mismanagement and carelessness of the civic authorities. Our heartfelt sympathies to the family of the departed soul and may Dr. Deepak Amrapurkar’s soul Rest In Peace!
A PIL should be filed in the court by citizen groups against the civic authorities so that such incidents don’t happen in future. Dr. Amrapurkar’s family should be compensated appropriately though human lives cannot be valued in monetary terms.
An appropriate monument like a medical research centre in the name of the late doctor should be constructed by the State govt as a mark of respect for the departed soul!
