Tanzil’s wife, who was in ICU for more than a week, breathed her last at AIIMS trauma centre, where she was shifted from Noida’s Fortis Hospital on Monday evening.

Tanzil Ahmed, probing terror cases related to Indian Mujahideen, was shot dead on April 3 by motorcycle-borne assailants who also wounded his wife when they were returning home from a wedding near UP’s Bijnor town.

Meanwhile, Assistant Superintendent of Police Dharmveer Singh said two more persons have been arrested for the fatal April 3, taking the number of arrests to four, even as efforts are on to nab the alleged mastermind.

Rizvan and Tanzeem were arrested on Wednesday morning and produced in a court, Singh said in Bijnore.

Two of the accused Rehan and Zainul, who were arrested on Tuesday, had claimed that Rizvan and Tanzeem too were involved in the conspiracy, following which the arrests were made, he said.

Rehan is the nephew of Ahmed’s brother-in-law, Inspector General of Police (Bareilly Zone) Vijay Kumar Meena said.

Investigation is on and several teams have been deputed to nab the alleged mastermind Muneer. The state police had earlier announced a reward of Rs.50,000 to anyone providing information on the whereabouts of the main accused Muneer.

The Uttar Pradesh police had on Tuesday claimed to have solved the case by arresting Rehan, who is nephew of Ahmed’s brother-in-law, and Zainul and had contended that domestic dispute was the motive behind the crime.
