Addressing an election rally in Dediapada in Narmada district, Kharge had said, “They ask us, especially Modiji and Shah (Amit shah) what the Congress has done in 70 years. If we have not done anything in 70 years then you wouldn’t have democracy in the country. “A person like you (PM Modi) claims to be poor. I am also poor, am one of the untouchables. People drank your tea, nobody would’ve had my tea. Then you say that you are poor and somebody abuses you. If you say it for sympathy then people have become smarter now. If you lie once or twice people will hear but how many times will you lie? He’s the leader of lies…,” he had added.

Local officials said the blast happened during the afternoon prayer. Interior Ministry spokesman Abdul Nafi Takor said several others were wounded in the blast in Aybak, the capital of the northern Samangan province.

‘The Kashmir Files’ brazen plot exposed at film festival

kashmir files controversy
'The Kashmir Files' brazen plot exposed at film festival 9

Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid, got ‘The Kashmir Files’ movie at a film festival in blizzard. Lapid is an Israeli screenwriter and film director. Film critics consider him to be among the most acclaimed filmmakers from Israel. He was the head of the international jury at the International Film Festival of India in Goa, said at the festival’s closing ceremony that the Vivek Agnihotri-directed film was “propaganda and vulgar”. He said the jury was “disturbed and shocked” at the screening of the film.
His remarks sparked a huge row, with many accusing the award-winning filmmaker of being insensitive towards the suffering of Kashmiri Pandits, who were forced to flee the Valley at the height of militancy in the 90s. Many wondered how someone from a community that faced the horrors of the Holocaust could make such remarks. The movie, which was promoted by leaders of the ruling BJP, has been a commercial success, but has also faced allegations of fanning communal sentiments. In his interview, Mr Lapid said that while he was watching the movie, he was shocked by the “transparent combination between propaganda and fascism and vulgarity”.
The Kashmir Files was beyond success because through this movie right wingers and BJP leaders successfully spread their agenda.  Including PM Modi, all the star worlds of BJP endorsed the movie and appealed to people to watch it. There were 24/7 TV hammering in TV debates and social media propaganda to attract audiences. Earning money is different and spreading hate is much different so the director might have bullied commoners of India but intellectuals did not buy his uncouthness.
The forgotten director Vivek Agnihotri and his wife got some life and relevance after this movie but lost their credibility as creative people.. The comment of an Israeli director and jury chairperson of International Film Festival of India (IFFI) has brutally exposed the agenda of Agnihotri couple. Lapid’s comments on the film came at the closing ceremony of the 53rd edition of IFFI on Monday in Goa. As controversy grew, more people joined the discourse against him. While some spoke up in his defence, others have accused him of being insensitive towards the suffering of Kashmiri Pandits.
Kashmir files are a very ideological film and it was severely “loaded” with fiction but not facts. After the movie many Kashmiri pandits and Muslims came together to protest against the movie stating the movie was factually incorrect and it’s the mind game of the director to create unrest in the valley.  It targets the ideological, psychological and socio-cultural rifts between two very distinct groups of people in a region. In addition to this, truth in reality is often discovered somewhere in the middle of two oppositional arguments, both of which only hint at the truth in ways that benefit their narrative.
One can only wonder, though, until the filmmakers themselves give an honest opinion. And if it were propaganda, you can rest assured, you aren’t getting an honest opinion. Movie was melodramatic and overloaded with Propaganda. The Kashmir Files movie is made with an agenda and certainly missed its credibility because the writer and director have failed to ask the present government, what has stopped them from rehabilitating Pandits in the Valley? No political party, including BJP is interested in doing anything for them because they (Kashmiri Pandit) are not a sizable vote bank, with a population of less than a million. What else do you expect from a political party? Meanwhile, how many Kashmiri Pandits really want to return? No one is really sure; all the so-called custodians of Pandits are in major cities across the globe.
The biggest point to my mind is that if this issue is solved, how will BJP and Kashmiri political parties use this emotive issue to create frenzy and support for divisive politics? They are all interested in keeping this issue live and simmering for their own petty interests. It is ironic that the separatists in Kashmir and Political parties are converging in their interest to keep this issue simmering. Why are these film makers shying away from making the present government accountable? There are hundreds of such movies made in the past but what these movie makers lack is the will to ask questions.

The third and final ODI of the three-match series between India and New Zealand was called off due to rain, with the hosts being able to score 104/1 in 18 overs at the time rain intervened and put any possibility of further action to rest. The Blackcaps thus won the series 1-0.

Chasing a target of 220, New Zealand got off to a flying start as their openers Finn Allen and Devon Conway gathered 97 runs without losing a wicket.

While trashing Indian bowlers all around the ground Allen brought up his half-century in just 50 balls.

Umran Malik then gave his team a big breakthrough as he dismissed Allen for 57 off 54 in the 17th over of the game. Allen’s wicket invited skipper Kane Williamson to the crease.

Williamson joined hands with Conway to slam Indian bowlers for boundaries while taking singles at regular intervals.

After 18 overs of play rain stopped the match with Conway unbeaten at 38 off 51 while Williamson at 0 in three balls.

Sundar scored the highest for India with 51 off 64 while Iyer played a knock of 49 runs in 59 deliveries to help Men in Blue post a respectable total against the hosts.

For New Zealand, Adam Milne and Daryl Mitchell bagged three-wicket hauls respectively while Tim Southee claimed two wickets.

Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant then tried to form a partnership for struggling India and slammed New Zealand bowlers all around the ground.

However, the blistering partnership was broken by Daryl Mitchell as the bowler sent Pant packing after scoring 10 runs off 16 deliveries.

Suryakumar Yadav came out to bat but the stylish batter failed to contribute to his team as Milne struck again for New Zealand and sent Suryakumar back to the pavilion after scoring just 6 runs in the 25th over of the game.

Shreyas Iyer’s stint was also cut short as he fall one run short of his 14th ODI fifty and departed after scoring 49 off 59 on the delivery of Lockie Ferguson in the 26th over of the game.

Washington Sundar then came out to bat. After 30 overs of the game, India’s score read 135/5. Tim Southee then gave India a big blow as he dismissed Deepak Hooda for 12 in 25 balls in the 34th over of the game, leaving India tottering at 149/6.

Deepak Chahar then came out to bat. Sundar then opened his hands and slammed Southee for 8 runs with his back-to-back two fours.

New Zealand pacers continue to dominate the Indian batters. Chahar then tried to play aggressively which cost him his wicket as he was sent back to the pavilion after scoring 12 runs in 9 balls.

With a stunning mighty six over mid-wicket Sundar brought up his maiden ODI fifty in just 62 balls, however, his stint at the crease was cut short as Southee sent the batter back in the pavilion after scoring 51 off 64 balls in the 48th over of the game to bundle out India for 219 in 47.3 of the game.

Brief score: India 219 (Washington Sundar 51, Shreyas Iyer 49; Daryl Mitchell 3-25) vs New Zealand 104/1 18 overs (Finn Allen 57, Devon Conway 38; Umran Malik 1-31).

Bilkis Bano on Wednesday approached the Supreme Court challenging the premature release of 11 men convicted of gangraping her in the 2002 Gujarat riots.

Bilkis Bano filed a review plea against the May order of the Supreme Court which allowed the Gujarat government to apply the 1992 Remission Rules to release the 11 convicts. Her lawyer mentioned the matter before Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud for listing.

CJI said he will examine the issue whether both pleas can be heard together and if they can be heard before the same bench. The Gujarat government had released 11 men, who were sentenced to life imprisonment, on August 15 this year.

All the 11 life-term convicts in the case were released as per the remission policy prevalent in Gujarat at the time of their conviction in 2008.

In March 2002 after the February 27, 2002 Godhra incident, in which 59 people were charred to death after Sabarmati Express was attacked by a mob, Bilkis Bano was gang-raped and left to die along with 14 members of her family, including her three-year-old daughter. She was five months pregnant when rioters attacked her family in Vadodara.
