Rahul Gandhi’s UK firm a shell company to receive defence kickbacks: Subramanian Swamy

In yet another move to back his claims that Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi is a ‘British national’ and had set up a company called ‘Backops’ in the United Kingdom, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy will hold a press conference on to put forward his arguments.

Upping the ante against the Gandhi scion, the BJP MP said, he will ask the Enforcement Directorate to file a case against Rahul under FCRA, PMLA and FEMA.

In a tweet this morning, Swamy alleged: “I have traced Backops as a shell co to companies receiving kick backs in Indian defence deals’ illegal commission. Another press conference.”

Swamy on Tuesday wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan urging her to refer the matter of Rahul Gandhi’s alleged violation of Constitution and ethical code on citizenship to the Ethics Committee and disqualify him as MP if he is guilty.

In his letter to Mahajan, the BJP leader said Gandhi, as a Lok Sabha member, has violated the ethics code to be observed by MPs and urged her to seek explanation from him.

After that if she felt that a prima case existed, she may refer the matter to the Ethics Committee of Lok Sabha to decide whether he can continue as MP, Swamy said adding that he should be disqualified because he was “guilty of gross violation” of ethics.

Swamy, who yesterday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had released documents purportedly showing that Gandhi had claimed himself to be a British national before the company law authorities there for setting up a company. He had demanded that Gandhi be stripped of Indian citizenship and Lok Sabha membership.

Congress has dismissed as “entirely false” BJP leader Swamy’s allegation that Gandhi has claimed himself to be a British national before the authorities there.

Will love to work with Khans, says Kalki Koechlin

KalkiLike many other leading ladies in the tinsel town, Kalki Koechlin also wishes to work with the Khans and when it comes to the traditional loves stories, she would definitely try her hand in one.

When asked about her dream cast, the 31-year-old actress told that she would love to work with the Khans, especially with Shah Rukh Khan because she thinks he is fantastic and charming as well.

Talking about her dream director, the ‘Margarita With a Straw’ star revealed that Vishal Bhardwaj tops her list because she thinks he is a fine blend of both artistic alternatives and commercial cinema.

Kalki, who strongly believes in the Japanese saying, “Today better than yesterday worst that tomorrow,” also said that she would like to try her hand in traditional love stories because for her, it’s not about not wanting to do commercial roles, it’s about fitting in and doing something she can pull off convincingly.

Further, when the thespian actress was asked if she would like to wear a director’s hat some day, she joked that she doesn’t have spare money in her pocket.

Kalki will be next seen in Nicholas Kharkongor’s directorial Mantra alongside Shiv Pandit and Rajat Kapoor. She will be seen in the character of Rajat’s rebellious daughter, who always wants more from life.

Khloe Kardashian loves baking with family

KholeThe 31-year-old reality TV star has lost 35 pounds over the past two years by sticking to an intense fitness regime and healthy diet, but still loves whipping up sweet treats in the kitchen with her older sister Kourtney Kardashian’s children, Mason, five, Penelope, three, and Reign, 11 months, and sister Kim Kardashian West’s two-year-old daughter North.

Showing off her meticulously organized kitchen in a new video on her official website and app, the ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ beauty said: “I absolutely adore baking with my nieces and nephews. It’s super fun, and I love baking by myself, so what I like to do is have a cabinet for my baking essentials.”

The blonde beauty, who believes she may suffer from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder [OCD], has a special container for every ingredient at her Los Angeles mansion and admits every item has a specific place in her pantry.

She said: “Everything, of course, labeled. Everything makes sense in this kitchen, you guys. The way it should be.

“I know everyone’s not going to go this far. I am going to go that far, because I’m crazy and it’s a one time purchase and I can use this for a bunch of different things later anyway. I like it, it’s my house, but I find it to be way more appealing than seeing all of the containers just shoved in the back of a cabinet.”

Zayn Malik on leaving One Direction

Zayn-MalikZayn Malik, who quit the globe-straddling boy band One Direction in March, has spoken for the first time about his reasons for leaving, as well as what fans can expect from his coming solo album.

In an interview – his first since he signed to RCA Records in July – with the Fader, Malik bemoans the lack of creative input he was allowed in the band, who were put together on The X Factor in 2010.

“There was never any room for me to experiment creatively in the band,” he says. “If I would sing a hook or a verse slightly R&B, or slightly myself, it would always be recorded 50 times until there was a straight version that was pop, generic as fuck, so they could use that version.

“Whenever I would suggest something, it was like it didn’t fit us. There was just a general conception that the management already had what they want for the band, and I just wasn’t convinced with what we were selling.”

Warming to his theme, Malik also outlines how, at the age of 22, he’d fallen out of love with the music the band were making, saying he was looking to make some “cool shit”.

“That’s not music that I would listen to,” he says of the band’s discography. “Would you listen to One Direction, sat at a party with your girl? I wouldn’t. To me, that’s not an insult, that’s me as a 22-year-old man. As much as I was in that band, and I loved everything that we did, that’s not music that I would listen to.

“I don’t think that’s an offensive statement to make. That’s just not who I am. If I was sat at a dinner date with a girl, I would play some cool shit, you know what I mean? I want to make music that I think is cool shit. I don’t think that’s too much to ask for.”

The “cool shit” in question – apparently a mixture of “mid-range R&B” and UK garage, and due out early next year – has been worked on with the Frank Ocean producer Malay, with some of it recorded in a tent in Los Angeles.

Elsewhere in the lengthy interview, Malik goes into some detail about the day he decided to leave the band: “I was always thinking it. I just didn’t know when I was going to do it. Then by the time I decided to go, it just felt right on that day. I woke up on that morning, if I’m being completely honest with you, and was like, ‘I need to go home. I just need to be me now, because I’ve had enough.’ I was with my little cousin at the time – we were sat in the hotel room – and I was just, ‘Should I go home?’ And he was like: ‘If you want to go home, let’s go home.’ So we left.”

David Beckham is Sexiest Man Alive 2015

David-BeckhamDavid Beckham has been crowned People’s magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive 2015.

The sexy sportsman is lusted after by women all around the world and often tops the list of best looking men, but this is the first time People have bestowed the prestigious title on him.

“It’s a huge honour,” David smiled to the publication. “And I’m very pleased to accept.”

Despite his good looks, toned body and new title, David admits that he feels far from that way when it comes to looks.

“I never feel that I’m an attractive, sexy person,” he admitted. “I mean I like to wear nice clothes and nice suits and look and feel good, but I don’t ever think of myself that way.”

The 40-year-old takes the crown from Chris Hemsworth, who was last year’s winner. Adam Levine and Channing Tatum have also won in previous years, while more vintage entries include Sean Connery in 1989 and Patrick Swayze in 1991.

When David was asked how wife Victoria, 41, reacted to the news, he replied with a shy smile.

“I would hope that she feels this way about me all the time anyway!” he laughed. “But she said, ‘Congratulations!'”

As well as a football career the British star has been a billboard regular, stripping to his underwear for Armani and H&M. He’s a prolific social media user too, and he took to Facebook and Instagram on Wednesday to share the happy news.

“I thought I was past my sell by date but thanks to People Magazine for the accolade and the compliment!” he shared. “I always feel a little shy when receiving these Awards, though it will make my Mum happy. This one the kids will laugh at, as they see what Daddy looks like in the morning!”

Nationalism should precede extremism

How loosely and how irresponsibly the people talk of creating Hindu Rashtra. We have a constitution, which will have to be annulled and then re-written and adopted. Are we in a position to do so? Will the people of India allow this? Do we now have the requisite talent to write out a constitution when you can’t think beyond petty politics? Where are the other Hindu Rashtras?

We are doing everything except working sincerely. Prime Minister Narendra Modi may have done a lot of good job but he certainly has destroyed the work culture. Can you show me a sentence where Modi says asks citizens to work hard which will pave for achche din. None of his cabinet ministers have dared to say this too. Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi criticized Modi for ignoring the interests of farmers and also asked when will the promised achche din will come? Rahul emphasized that farmer suicides were rising as NDA government has been neglecting them since it came to power over a year ago. He also said that the erstwhile UPA government had passed the Land Ordinance Act but the NDA government is trying to dilute it by snatching the land of farmers.

The RSS must be congratulated for completing 90 years of its existence. One thing I appreciate about Mohan Bhagwat is that he has picked up the courage to express concern about burgeoning population in the country. Now it becomes the duty of the government to immediately take steps to curb rising population.

Friends, there is crisis of character in the country at present. There is lot of indiscipline. Indiscipline exists even at the Chief Ministerial level. Look how Arvind Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is talking about Narendra Modi and how he is quietly listening even with a 56 inch chest. I am confused whether I should follow Hinduism of Shiv Sena or RSS. I will prefer to follow my own Hinduism because being Hindu means being obedient and working hard cheerfully. Respecting our parents and teachers is good Hinduism which I have automatically been following because that is what I learnt from my elders.

People are talking about Ram and Shiva. Experiences teach you a lot in life. I follow Lord Hanuman because Hanuman chalisa was taught to me by my grandmother and aunts. He could not recognize the correct herb so he brought the entire hillock. We need such persons who can perform selfless service without expecting anything in return.

Intolerance issue splits Bollywood

The rising intolerance issue has divided Bollywood into two groups viz anti and pro-Narendra Modi.

Bolly-2On one hand, writers and filmmakers are returning the awards to express their resentment over rising intolerance in the country on the other hand Bollywood actor like Anupam Kher and many other members of the film fraternity came forward to support Modi government. He also led a march to Rashtrapati Bhavan alleging that the “award wapsi” campaign was being initiated with an intention to malign the country’s image by some people.

Many filmmakers and artistes including Madhur Bhandarkar, Ashoke Pandit, Priyadarshan, Manoj Joshi, Abhijeet Bhattacharya and writer Madhu Kishwar joined the march to hand over a memorandum signed by more than 40 personalities including actress Raveena Tandon to President Pranab Mukherjee. Kher had met Pranab Mukherje and also expressed his concern about the “award wapasi” campaign.

Bhandarkar, a National Award winner, alleged that those involved in the protest over intolerance had opposed Prime Minister Narendra Modi before he was elected, which raised questions about their intention.

“The projection that is happening for the past few days is very sad. The people who were against Modiji during elections are the same people who are coming out right now.

“The whole projection and narrative that is going abroad is wrong. It is a diverse country and of course there are incidents but we all condemn them. There is no two ways about it,” he said.

Anupam Kher asserted that protestors were not associated with any organisation or political party. “This march is led by Indians and for Indians.”
Film-maker Priyadarshan said the act of returning the awards is “childish”.

“People returning awards are doing a childish act. They should use the power of pen. Instances of intolerance have always been there. It is not something that happened yesterday. Shah Rukh Khan never said he is returning award,” Priyadarshan said.

“They are respected people but behaving like school children,” Priyadarshan said.

Central Board of Film Certification chairman, Pahlaj Nihalani had released a video tribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi ‘Mera Desh Mahan’. Nihalani also plans to make a documentary film to expose FTII students as “anti-nationals”, who he thinks are backed by unimportant industry members whose only aim is to bring down the Modi government.

Earlier, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley accused the Congress and Left intellectuals of practising ‘ideological intolerance’ towards the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and trying to project India as an intolerant society through structured and organised propaganda. Jaitley also appealed to “every well-wisher of India and the present Government” not to make statements that could vitiate the atmosphere and obstruct growth.

On the other hand, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has come forward to support writers and filmmakers who are protesting against Modi Government.

“It is stupid… It is stupid to be intolerant and this is our biggest issue, not just an issue… Religious intolerance and not being secular in this country is the worst kind of crime that you can do as a patriot.”

The filmmakers who have decided to return their National Awards are Dibakar Banerjee, Anand Patwardhan, Paresh Kamdar, Nishtha Jain, Kirti Nakhwa, Harshavardhan Kulkarni, Hari Nair, Rakesh Sharma, Indraneel Lahiri and Lipika Singh Darai. Earlier, in Pune, two FTII alumni, Pratik Vatsa and Vikrant Pawar, made a similar announcement.

May his soul rest in peace “Singhal”

Two great Hindu Hridaysamrats, Balasaheb Thackeray and Ashok Singhal passed away on the same day i.e. on 17th November. The speculations on both deaths were spread before it was officially declared. Hindus will always be thankful to these great combatants who fought for causes and respect of Hinduism.

Singhal was an international working president of the Hindu organisation called as Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) for over 20 years until, following a long bout of diminishing physical health. He was replaced by Praveen Togadia in December 2011. Singhal was ailing but was working till a month before his death. He was born in Agra. His father was a government official. He has Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the Benaras Hindu University’s Institute of Technology in 1950. Having been in Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) since 1942, he became a full-time pracharak after graduation. He worked in various locations around Uttar Pradesh, becoming a prant pracharak for Delhi and Haryana. In 1980, he was deputed to the VHP, becoming its joint general secretary. In 1984, he became its general secretary and, later, the working president, a role in which he continued till 2011.

VHP is an Indian right-wing Hindu nationalist organization based on the ideology of Hindutva. It was founded in 1964 by M. S. Golwalkar and S. S. Apte in collaboration with Swami Chinmayananda. Its main objective is “to organise, consolidate the Hindu society and to serve, protect the Hindu Dharma. The VHP belongs to the Sangh Parivar, an umbrella of Hindu nationalist organisations led by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). It has been involved in social service projects in India such as construction and renovation of Hindu temples, issues of cow slaughter, religious conversion, the Ayodhya dispute and its role in the Babri Masjid demolition.

The VHP, which considers Buddhists, Jains and Sikhs as well as native tribal religions as part of the greater Hindu fraternity, officially mentions that it was founded by the “Saint Shakti of Bharat”. The VHP was first mooted at a conference in Pawai, Sandipani Sadhanalaya, Bombay on 29 August 1964. The conference was hosted by RSS chief M. S. Golwalkar. The date was chosen to coincide with the festival of Janmashtami. Several representatives from the Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist and Jain faiths were present in the meeting, as well as the Dalai Lama. Golwalkar explained that “all faiths of Indian origins need to unite”, saying that the word “Hindu” (people of “Hindustan”) applied to adherents of all the above religions. They believed that the world has been divided into Christian, Islam and communist. All of them view Hindu society as very fine rich food on which to feast and fatten themselves. It is necessary in this age of conflict to think of and organise the Hindu world to save it from the evils of all the three. Defending Hindus around the world and Hindu rights has been one of its stated objectives.

The organisation acts under the guidance from Dharma Sansad, a religious parliament of Gurus. Its slogan is Dharmo rakṣati rakṣitaḥ, which means “Dharma protects its protector” and its symbol is the banyan tree. The current international president of VHP is Raghava Reddy. While its executive president Praveen Togadia, who is known for his aggressive attack on Muslims and Christians.

Singhal was not only an activist but also a visionary with academics; hardly anyone knows that he was a trained vocalist in Hindustani music. He studied under Pandit Omkarnath Thakur. Singhal’s death is loss to Right wing and Hindutva.

After the Meenakshipuram conversions, Singhal moved to the VHP as the joint general secretary. After noting the main grievance of the Dalit communities in the area of their inaccessibility to temples, VHP built 200 temples specifically for Dalits. He says that the conversions stopped afterwards. Singhal was a key organiser of the first VHP Dharma Sansad in 1984 held at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi, attracting hundreds of sadhus and Hindu notables to discuss the issues of rejuvenating Hinduism. The movement for reclaiming the Ramjanmabhoomi temple was born here. Singhal soon became the chief architect of the Ramjanmabhoomi movement.

It was under his stewardship that the international branding of VHP was conceptualised for which he recruited supporters and established offices abroad. The VHP got immense contribution from outside India for its campaign. Singhal was instrumental in the “kar sewak” campaign that led to the bringing down of the 16th century Babri Masjid in Ayodhya on December 6, 1992. VHP leaders considered him their “mentor and visionary” as he led many a movement during his lifetime. He was instrumental in playing a key role in launching an Andolan in Uttar Pradesh against the Emergency and also the ‘Gau-Raksha Andolan’ for the protection of cows. Singhal continued to play an active role in VHP and remained its patron till the end.

Incidentally, a few days prior to being admitted to the hospital, Singhal undertook a 30-day tour of various countries to oversee the VHP activities. The VHP opened branches in 40 nations from east to west, including countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Germany to Indonesia and Japan among other countries under Singhal’s leadership. Let’s hope the dreams of Singhal would be fulfilled as tribute to him by his right wing followers and politicians.
