Congress suspends former MP Sircilla Rajaiah embroiled in death case of daughter-in-law and grandsons

Congress on Sunday suspended from the party its former MP Sircilla Rajaiah, who was arrested for his alleged role in the death of his daughter-in-law and three grandsons.

“Rajaiah has been suspended from the party,” Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said. He, however, did not specify the period of suspension.

Rajaiah, his wife Madhavi and son Anil Kuamr were arrested following death of the four family members in a blaze that broke out at their house in Warangal in the wee hours on November 4.

Following a complaint, a case was registered against Rajaiah, his wife Madhavi and son Anil Kumar at Subedari police station under sections 498A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) and 306 (abetment to suicide) of IPC, and under section 174 (suspicious death) of CrPC for the death of three boys.

Following the incident, 62-year-old Rajaiah, who was nominated by the Congress as its candidate for the Warangal Lok Sabha by-election slated for November 21, was replaced by former Union Minister Sarve Satyanarayana as the party’s candidate.

Lalu Yadav’s sons Tejaswi and Tej Pratap register win in debut election

As the Janata Dal (United) and the Rashtriya Janata Dal staged an sspectacular victory on Sunday, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s sons Tejaswi and Tej Pratap Yadav both have registered their win in their debut election.

Tejaswi, 26, and his older brother Tej Pratap, 27, contested from the Raghopur and Mahua assembly constituencies respectively.

Lalu Yadav’s RJD is part of the Mahagathbandhan which also has Nitish Kumar’s JD (U).

Tejaswi, who is the younger of the two sons, is widely seen as Lalu Yadav’s political heir. “It is a verdict for development in the state. We are very grateful to the people of Bihar for electing us,” he said.

Of the nine children of Lalu Prasad, three have now entered politics. Lalu’s daughter Misa Bharti had contested the national election last year but lost.

The RJD chief has been barred from contesting elections following his conviction in a corruption case.

Shatrughan Sinha snubs BJP, calls Nitish’s triumph victory of democracy

Sulking BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha on Sunday termed the grand alliance’s victory in Bihar polls as “victory of democracy” and took a swipe at the top party brass, saying the issue of “Bihari versus Bahri” has been settled once and for all.

“Congratulations to Laluji & Nitishji for this victory in Bihar elections. We bow before people’s mandate. It is the victory of democracy and the people of Bihar. I salute them. It appears that the issue of Bihari vs Bahari (and Bihari Babu’s absence) has been settled once and for all,” he said in tweets.

Once among the BJP’s star campaigners, Sinha has been sidelined by the party leadership. He has often taken potshots at the party for the way it has conducted the campaign in Bihar.

Kumar had made “Bihari vs Bahri” one of his main campaign themes, terming Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah, two most prominent NDA campaigners, as outsiders as he asked people to choose him, a Bihari.

“The call of the day is introspection, modified and better strategy, teamwork and coordination in the future. Salute once again to Biharis,” Sinha, BJP MP from Patna Sahib, advised the party leadership in another tweet.

Centre to fulfil promise of Rs. 1.25 lakh crore package: Rajnath

The Centre is committed to provide the Rs 1.25-lakh-crore economic package announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Bihar, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said Sunday as he congratulated Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD chief Lalu Prasad for their victory in assembly polls.

As JD(U)-RJD led Mahagathbandhan headed for a landslide victory, Singh said the BJP and the central government respect the mandate given by the people of Bihar.

“The economic package for Bihar is a commitment given by the Prime Minister which will be fulfilled by the Centre at all cost,” he said here.

Singh said he hoped that the government in Patna will lead Bihar on the path of peace and progress.

He called up both Kumar and Lalu and congratulated them for their party’s victory. The Home Minister also congratulated JD(U) President Sharad Yadav.

“Spoke to Shri Nitish Kumar over the phone and congratulated him on his party’s victory in Bihar assembly elections. Congratulated RJD president Shri Lalu Prasad and JDU president Shri Sharad Yadav on their party’s performance in Bihar Assembly elections,” he said.

New poster surfaces in Bihar: ‘Haan bhaiya, Bihar me bahar hai’

Grand Alliance’s thumping victory in the 2015 Bihar Assembly elections has also changed the ongoing poster war in the state with the news ones taking a jibe at the BJP-led NDA, which badly lost in the crucial assembly elections.

All major locations and landmarks in the city are now splashed with colourful banners and poster hailing the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ led by Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal United and Lalu Prasad Yadav’s RJD.

One such poster carrying a big image of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar read: “han bhai, Bihar me bahar hai, Mr. Kumar phir ek bar hai. (Yes, there is enthusiasm in Bihar, Nitish Kumar is back in Bihar)”.

Interestingly, another poster showed the leaders of BJP-led NDA lying low and completely dejected after their defeat in Bihar polls. Top NDA leaders like Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Ram Vilas Paswan, Sushil Modi among others were depicted moving bare foot with their heads hanging in shame.

During the course of assembly elections, BJP had also put up massive hoardings carrying the image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah.

The posters and hoardings put up by BJP carried the party slogan: ‘Badaliye sarkar, badaliye Bihar’.

‘Not Thinking’ of Biopics for now: Vidya Balan

Vidya received accolades for her performance in The Dirty Picture, which was directed by Milan Luthria. Since then, the 37-year-old actress has been offered several biopics, including the one on former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, actress Suchitra Sen and Bharat Ratna awardee vocalist MS Subbulakshmi.

“Even I keep hearing. I am not thinking of biopic films. Once I confirm it, I will let you all know,” said Vidya.

The Paa actress will be seen in a special role in a biopic titled Ek Albela.

“I am not doing any preparation for the film. It’s a special appearance. It will release in January,” added Vidya.

Vidya will reportedly play the role of veteran actress Geeta Bali in the film.

Ek Albela traces the journey of Bhagwan Dada’s film career as an actor and director, and Vidya’s role will be credited as a special appearance.

The actress also thinks that the perception towards small budget films is gradually changing.

“There is a change in viewing preferences of audiences in India. Our audience is diverse. There is an appetite for every kind of film. Slowly we are seeing small films in theatres and with festivals like MAMI, things are going to get better. But this won’t change overnight. We have come a long way. It is refreshing to see new kind of films coming up,” she said.

Jennifer Lawrence kisses ‘Hunger Games’ co-star

Hunger-GamesOscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence accidentally kissed her co-star Natalie Dormer on the lips at the London premiere of “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2”.

The red carpet moment happened after Lawrence interview-bombed Dormer. The “American Hustle” star was trying to say hello with a kiss on the cheek when Dormer turned towards her at the same time.

“Oh my god,” Lawrence exclaimed, before apologising to her co-star.

“We just kissed on camera. And I liked it,” she added.

The “Game of Thrones” star continued her interview after the collision, when the reporter informed her that she had some of Lawrence’s lipstick on her face.

“I’ll get Jennifer Lawrence off my face,” Dormer promised as she walked away.
