Actress Monica Bellucci says her “Spectre” co-star Daniel Craig never made her feel “uncomfortable” during their intimate scenes.
The star, 51, portrays widow Lucia Sciarra in the new movie opposite the 47-year-old actor’s alter-ego James Bond, reported a leading magazine.
“Daniel is so generous as an actor and a man, so I was never uncomfortable. When you have to do intimate scenes with someone, it’s so important for the chemistry to be there – because then it becomes more like a tango.
“But I don’t think it’s a coincidence that a lot of roles I’m playing now are women coming out of the darkness into the light because I do feel that ageing has given me a new freedom,” she said.
Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra began their Bollywood journey together three years ago and the actress, who is reportedly dating the actor, is happy to see him transform into a happier and easier person now.
The Student Of The Year co-stars will be seen together again in filmmaker Karan Johar’s upcoming film Kapoor and Sons, which will be directed by Shakun Batra.
“Both of us have done a few films in between and now we are coming together so there is that change but inherently we have remained the same. He has become more comfortable, easy confident and happy. He has become the kind of a person, who wants to make everyone happy on the set,” added Alia.
Actress Bipasha Basu, who has featured in horror films like “Raaz” and “Alone”, says the genre needs encouragement.
“I don’t like to follow the norm – the typical way of doing things. I’ve never done it and I like to be a little unpredictable. But the only predictability in my case has been that I am still supporting and encouraging a genre (horror) which has still not got its due respect.
“It’s a genre which is still experimental but very exciting so I am supporting what I am good at,” Bipasha said here on Tuesday regarding her horror show “Darr Sabko Lagta Hai”.
Why did she choose horror to begin her journey on television?
“I didn’t want to do the predictable dance and music reality judging show which is also a lot of fun to see. And I think this (horror) is right up my alley, it’s my home turf… horror and it’s a genre which needs encouragement,” she added.
The show will be aired from October 31 on &TV.
Bipasha will be playing herself in the show and her part has been directed by “Go Goa Gone” directors Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K.
About “Darr Sabko Lagta Hai”, she said: “It’s got a very modern and contemporary take on horror. It’s not something that you’ve seen – the style of shooting, the directors who have been roped in to make these short films … everything is very new-age.”
About her shift from films to TV, she said: “TV is a very big medium for every actor. From Shah Rukh Khan to Amitabh Bachchan to Salman Khan everybody is on television. So why should the actresses lag behind?.
“It’s been five years since I’ve been planning to do something on television. The way the Indian television is expanding and the kind of content we’re showing, we’re actually moving away from the typical Indian television. So for me it was very exciting.”
Sena and opposition parties protest against the state government’s failure to control pulses price rise.
The rising prices of pulses like Tur Dal and Urad Dal has become a major cause of concern for the BJP led Maharashtra government. The government is receiving flak from opposition parties and citizens for its inability to control pulses prices. BJP’s ally Shiv Sena protested against the state government’s failure to control pulses prices and sold Tur Dal to citizens at Rs 50 per kg. MNS too protested against the rising prices of lentils from S.V road to Borivali signal in the city. The Congress held a rally under the leadership of Sanjay Nirupam against the government in Bandra over escalating pulses prices. The party demanded that price of pulses be brought down to allow bulk purchases, in view of Diwali and Dusshera celebrations. Deficient rainfall has affected pulses production and probable artificial hoardings to increase rates have caused the price hike.
Sanjay Nirupam, the Mumbai Congress president, said, “During the Lok Sabha elections, Narendra Modi had promised to curb inflation. In the last one and a half years, prices have only risen.”
The prices of Tur Dal have already shot up to Rs 210 per kg and if the situation continues in this manner then it will reach Rs 250 per kg soon. The rising prices of pulses have already dampened the festive spirit of citizens. The black lentil used to cost Rs 60 to Rs 80 during the erstwhile UPA regime.
The Mumbai Congress warned the government to slash prices of pulses before the Diwali festival. “There is a gap of at least 10 lakh tonne annually between supply and demand, which is met by imports from Australia, Tanzania and Myanmar,” Nirupam said, adding hoarding of pulses was also responsible for the price rise.
He said, “The UPA government had started a national pulse production mission. The current government must focus on improving production to curtail price rise.”
“Tur dal prices have now risen to more than Rs 200 (per kg). When tur dal prices were ruling at Rs 70-Rs 80 (per kg during the previous UPA rule) Narendra Modiji and the BJP staged agitations in the entire country. Today, the entire BJP is silent,” AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh said.
The prices of pulses have increased unabated in the last few months due to a fall in domestic output by about 2 million tonnes (mt) to 17.20 mt in 2014-15 crop year (July-June) owing to deficient monsoon and unseasonal rains.
Urad too is retailing high at Rs 170 per kg though it declined from Rs 187 per kg last week, but rates are still way higher than Rs 98 per kg that prevailed a year earlier.
Meanwhile the Centre said action against hoarders and blackmarketeers has been stepped up and the state governments have seized over 5,800 tonnes of pulses in five states over the last few months.
It’s not only in India but the Sikhs across the globe are angry with BJP and its ally Prakash Singh Badal. On 18th October Sunday a gathering of approximately one thousand three hundred Sikhs at Bell Performing Arts Centre Surrey, BC Canada, held Badal responsible for such acts and they agreed that they will not discuss anything with Badal or his men. They will protest if Badal or his ministers speak anything on the stage (political or religious) in their vicinity. They also agreed upon that five Jathedars have become puppets of Badals, so they must be replaced in the Sarbat Khalsa (A meeting of all Sikh bodies) on Nov 10th, 2015. The gathering agreed upon that any Jatherdar if appointed by Badal and his men will not be accepted at all no matter how savant or sane he would be. A candle light vigil was also held after the meeting at the Bell centre. A similar protest was also held in Stockton, USA. Almost 50 local gurudwara bodies were united on this issue and announced their no confidence in Badals and his men.
Let’s connect all the dots, Orbit bus incidence in Moga brought common people of Punjab together against the Badals. Vote bank is slipping away. Sikh Guru’s relic journey was planned and executed to shift the focus. Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa went on a hunger strike for Sikh political prisoners. Badals were directly in the line of fire. Dinanagar police station was attacked and people’s attention was diverted. Punjab’s Cotton belt was destroyed by whitefly. Bogus companies’ ineffective pesticides were believed to be the main cause of this destruction. The companies duly approved by the government were later found non-existent. Farmers blamed Badals for suicides. Protests landed Badals in hot waters. Suddenly, Sacha Sauda sect’s cult saint was pardoned after almost seven years without any formal apology from the sect or cult leader. Focus shifted from the farmers to Sikh issues. Sikhs started protesting against the decision of the Akal Takht Jathedar and it was very strong protest all over Punjab.
The role of Guru Granth Sahib as a source or guide of prayer is pivotal in Sikh worship was desecrated at many places in Punjab. Sikhs also started protesting to condemn the Guru Granth Sahib’s desecration and blocked the major roads and rail routes in a peaceful protest. Fire was opened on peaceful Sikh protesters with no advance warning. Two young Sikh protesters (Krishan Bhagwan Singh, 45 and Gurjeet Singh, 27) were killed by the Punjab Police’s bullets. The strange and unique fact about these protests were seen when the Sikh bodies or volunteers brought the langar (Food made in Community Kitchen) for the protesters. It was also shared with the police personals who beat them a while ago. The true essence of langar (food with no discrimination) was to potray that even the assaulters were equal. This was the height of injustice and cruelty by the state government for the Sikh community. State’s incapability resulted in this phase of movement against the alleged Sikh leaders for misguiding the community. Now, this protest is not limited within the Punjab state but also spread like a wildfire worldwide in Punjabi Diaspora. Let it be USA, England, Europe, Canada or Australia, Sikhs are protesting against Badals and their men. Recent protest and pressure by the common Sikh forced many of the Badal’s cavalcades to resign.
The Canadian Defense Minister, Jason Kenney openly criticized the heavy handed crackdown and killing of peaceful protesters by the Punjab State, and demanded that those responsible for the murders of the innocent protesters should be criminally charged for their crimes. “All political parties of Canada have supported Sikh fight for justice in Punjab and condemned the attacks. However, PM Modi, who has had hobby of reacting and commenting on every issue in India hasn’t tweeted anything about the issue.
Ironically, Indian media out of its habit of keeping their eyes shut towards Punjab, specially Sikh issues, did not even report a single incident on their ‘lightning fast’ news networks. Badals are not only feeling alone and deserted on Sikh issues front but also they are going to be in a trouble for upcoming World Kabbadi Cup as many of the international Kabbadi federations and clubs have boycotted the cup.
Canada West Kabbadi Federation, National Kabbadi Federation of Canada, England Kabbadi Federation, Kabbadi Federation of Ontorio also joined the protest and many more are expected to follow. Badals are really in big trouble this time and time will tell about their fate. Once Mr. Parkash Singh Badal while inaugurating World Kabbadi Cup said that he might not have played the Kabbadi game on the field, but he has played it all these years in politics and he has won so far.
Already, India has gone restless since 2014, the new government was formed in the centre. Now, the Indians across the globe are participating in this remonstration against the Indian government. God knows where the country is heading.
A day after ten Shiv Sena workers were arrested for allegedly storming into the BCCI office and protesting against planned talks with PCB chief Shaharyar Khan, police arrested nine more party workers, including four shakha pramukhs (branch heads).
The total number of those arrested in this case has gone up to 19.
After the arrest, the accused were produced in a local court which granted bail to them on a bond of Rs. 2,000 each.
The nine accused were identified as Shiv Sena shakha pramukh of ward no. 225 Santosh Veer (40), shakha pramukh of ward no. 212 Manohar Patil (50), shakha pramukh of ward no.
226 Siddhesh Mandgaonkar (30), shakha pramukh of ward no. 211 Vijay Surve (65), Kiran Balsaraf (43), Dharmesh Mishra (25), Nilesh Ahirekar (38), Manish Surve (37) and Gulab Ugarej (30), police said.
“These Sena workers were arrested on charges of unlawful assembly and violating Police Commissioner’s order to refrain from such assembling. Our team picked them up from different locations,” said Dhananjay Kulkarni, spokesperson of Mumbai Police.
He said IPC sections 141 (unlawful assembly), 143, 149 and 37(1) and also section 135 of the Mumbai Police Act have been slapped against the nine accused.
According to Kulkarni, the police are looking for some more Sena workers to be arrested.
Over a hundred Shiv Sena workers allegedly stormed into the BCCI headquarters in south Mumbai where its president Shashank Manohar was to meet the PCB officials, he said.
Last Monday, the Mumbai police had arrested six Sena workers for blackening the face of Observer Research Foundation (ORF) Chairman Sudheendra Kulkarni, ahead of former Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri’s book launch in the city.
Agitating students of FTII held one more round of talks with the government but there were no indications of an immediate end to the four-month-old deadlock over appointment of Gajendra Chauhan as its Chairman.
The students, who have been demanding removal of Chauhan as well as four society members of the prestigious film and television institute based in Pune, held 5th round of talks with Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore for about three hours to find a resolution to the matter.
Various issues, including the backlog of academic sessions, were discussed during the meeting.
However, there was no indication of an immediate end to the four-month-old strike.
Rathore said the meeting saw complex issues come up for discussion, including how the 2008 batch has still not been able to complete its course or how the 2011 batch has been able to complete only one year of its course.
“Even if we have to hire more studios or if we have to provide them Doordarshan studios in Mumbai, the main thing is that students should pass this course, get diplomas and do something in their life. This is the most important thing for students,” Rathore said.
With regard to demands for removal of Chauhan and some society members, the minister said the FTII society was constituted after consulting all the members and the composition was acceptable to everyone. “However, later some people gave different opinions,” he added.
When a reporter asked whether there was any discussion about the “contentious” appointment of Chauhan as the FTII council chief, Rathore claimed that the issue was “not contentious”.
The students, however, spoke differently, saying that not just Chauhan, the appointment of four other FTII society members, too, was also contentious.
Vikas Urs, one of the students, said they would go back and have discussions with other students about the next course of action.
“We have discussed all appointments, including the appointment of Chauhan, and all other issues. The ministry has said they will go back and discuss and we will also go back to our campus and discuss all this,” he said.
Urs said the students have asked the ministry to have a relook at the appointments of not just Gajendra Chauhan but also four society members. “All the five appointments are contentious,” he said.
Asked whether a date for another meeting had been decided, Urs said the I&B ministry should be asked about that.
Mumbai police on Tuesday issued a notice banning photography and publishing pictures of Durga idols during immersion that will take place from October 22-24.
The scope of ban also implies on idols half-submerged or lying at the shores or while being taken by BMC workers for re-immersion on the three days.
The decision has taken keeping in mind that pictures or videos of idol immersion may hurt the religious sentiments, which may result into disturbance of public peace and tranquillity, according to a statement issued by Mumbai police here today.
City police in this connection has invoked section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973 (Act no II of 1973).
“I am empowered under section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973 (Act no II of 1973) in exercises of the said powers do hereby order that no person shall take photographs of idols floating or half-submerged after immersion is over and shall not publish or circulate same,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjay Barkund was quoted as saying in the statement.
The order would be effective from October 22 to 24, it said, adding, if anyone is found to be not abiding by it would face investigation or legal proceedings, penalty or forfeiture or punishment.
Earlier, on July 30 this year, Mumbai police had put ban on photography and videography during the funeral of 1993 serial blasts convict Yakub Memon, who was hanged to death in Nagpur Central jail before being buried in a graveyard in South Mumbai.
Maharashtra Governor C Vidyasagar Rao today assured a delegation of Sikhs that he will take up the matter of providing adequate security to Gurudwaras in the state, with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Rao gave the assurance to a 20-member delegation of members of the Sikh community from Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, who met him at Raj Bhavan under the aegis of Maharashtra Sikh Association.
The delegation presented a memorandum to the Governor expressing deep “anguish and concern” of the community spread across the world over the alleged desecration of the Holy Guru Granth Sahib by anti-social and communal elements in a village in Punjab and the subsequent killing of two Sikhs in Faridkhot, Punjab, who were protesting the incident.
The delegation also requested the Governor to tighten internal security in Maharashtra and to provide extra security to the Gurudwaras in the state, a Raj Bhavan spokesperson said.
The Governor assured the delegation that he will take up the matter with the chief minister immediately.
The Centre has informed the Bombay High Court that it was ready to look into the grievances of people about the new guidelines on child adoption issued by Central Adoption Resource Agency (CARA), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
This was conveyed by Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Anil Singh to a bench headed by Justice V M Kanade which was hearing a public interest litigation challenging the new CARA guidelines.
During the course of hearing, the bench inquired about objection raised by Missionaries of Charity founded by Mother Teresa to these guidelines, to which the government said it was ready to hear grievances of people/organistions in this regard.
The PIL has been filed by an adoptive parent and an unwed mother questioning the revised guidelines.
The petitioners have challenged the online selection procedure, where out of six children the prospective adoptive parent or parents had to choose only one, failing which they would go to the bottom of the waiting list.
The ASG said that before framing new guidelines, suggestions were invited but if still there are objections and complaints, the parties would be heard and attempt will be made to resolve their grievances.
The bench said it appeared that the state government had no role to play in the new guidelines and felt that the Centre and the state should coordinate among themselves.
The Federation of Adoption Agencies in Maharashtra also filed an intervention application, saying they were opposed to online procedure of intra and inter-country adoptions because not many people may be familiar with the technology.
However, the court asked the federation to file a separate petition on this issue and did not allow their intervention.
The HC has posted the matter for hearing on October 28.
