Four cops granted bail in graft case

Four policemen, including an inspector, arrested for graft have been granted bail by a local court.

Additional Sessions Judge Mrs. V V Virkar yesterday granted bail to police inspector Shahaji Jadhav, from Thane Police Commissionerate’s Crime Branch, and three constables Suresh Patil, Premsingh Rajput and Uday Kore and asked them not to interfere in the probe with regard to the case.

They have also been ordered to report to the Anti-Corruption Bureau office on specified period in a week.

Jadhav had allegedly demanded Rs. 2 lakh from a complainant who had a chemical unit in Wada of Thane district.

Patil was caught red-handed while accepting Rs. 50,000, a part of the amount, in the crime branch office on January 29 following which the four policemen were arrested.

A search carried out by the ACB team revealed that Rajput owned a number of properties, cars and jewellery which were allegedly disproportionate to his income.

Bombay HC stops fresh appointments to Minorities Commission

The Bombay High Court restrained Maharashtra government from making appointments to the State Minorities Commission after some former members, including the vice-chairman approached it, alleging that the government sacked them arbitrarily.

The BJP-led state government, which came to power last October, gave marching orders to non-official members of the Minorities Commission last month.
“Instead of giving any interim-relief of reinstatement, we direct the state to refrain from filling up the vacant posts,” the division bench headed by Justice V M Kanade said.

The bench was hearing a petition filed by former vice-chairperson Janet D’Souza and eight others.

“They were removed arbitrarily without assigning any reason,” argued their lawyer Aabha Singh.

Singh said the members were removed last month on the ground that the government wanted to “reorganize” the commission but no hearing was given to them before the removal order was issued.

“The doctrine of pleasure has been used arbitrarily (by the government),” Singh said.

The court directed the state to file reply in an affidavit, adjouring the matter for two weeks.

NCP leader Jitendra Awhad wants government to allot land to Microsoft

Senior NCP leader Jitendra Awhad wants the Maharashtra government to allot land to software giant Microsoft Corporation at the proposed Central Business District (CBD) in Thane’s Kalwa area.

The proposed CBD is the “best location” for Microsoft to set up its unit, Awhad said, adding that he has urged Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to allot a plot there to the software major.

Several multinational companies want to set up units in the state near Mumbai and they could be accommodated in the proposed CBD, the MLA from Kalwa-Mumbra said.

The proposed sports university could also be set up at the same location, he said.

The state government should also concentrate on resolving the pending issues of Kalwa’s farmers, including compensation to those whose land has been acquired for developmental purposes, he said.

Close on the heels of the plush Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai, the state government had last week decided to set up a CBD in Thane.

The CBD is to be set up on 72 acres of land at Kalwa- Kharigaon and the place will be developed after taking the local elected representatives into confidence, Thane’s guardian minister Eknath Shinde had earlier said in a release.

The setting up of the business district will ease the population concentration and also help generate employment, he had said.

Maharashtra govt. nod to buy house in London where Ambedkar stayed

The Maharashtra government on Tuesday approved a proposal to purchase the 2,050 sq feet bungalow in London, where Dr. BR Ambedkar once lived and convert it into an international memorial.

The house situated on 10, King Henry Road, NW3, where the architect of Indian Constitution lived while he was pursuing higher studies at the London School of Economics during 1921-22, is being auctioned by the owner.

The bungalow’s price is estimated at Rs. 40 crore. A plaque that “Indian Crusader for Social Justice Dr. BR Ambedkar lived here during 1921-22” is put outside the house, Maharashtra Social Justice Minister Rajkumar Badole said after a state Cabinet meeting.

A committee under Badole has been set up to expedite the process of purchase of the six bedroom-cum-terrace house.

He said permission of the central government would be taken before proceeding with the purchase.

“We will require Rs. 40 crore to purchase the house and later annual maintenance of Rs. 61 lakh. We can recover some of the maintenance amount from rent as we will give four rooms to four Dalit students, who come to London on scholarship to pursue higher studies. Similarly, one bedroom will be for professor on official visit,” he said.

Badole said the first instalment of Rs. five crore has been sanctioned for appointment of solicitor and surveyor.

Last month, the Maharashtra government had dispatched a letter of intent to the Indian High Commission in the UK, formally setting in motion the process to purchase the London house.

Convict, who jumped parole, held in Sakinaka

A murder convict, who had jumped parole and been on the run since June 2013, has been arrested from suburban Sakinaka, police said.

Acting on a tip off, the Crime Branch sleuths laid a trap and nabbed the convict Pratap Godse (35) from Sakinaka on Monday night.
“Godse was subsequently handed over to Bhayander police, which placed him under arrest as a case for violating parole rules was registered there,” said a police officer.

The officials said that Godse was one of the eleven convicts, who was sentenced to life term in the 2007 murder case and was lodged in the Nashik central prison since then.

At the behest of don Arun Gawli, corporator Kamalakar Jamsandekar was shot dead inside his residence in Sakinaka area in March 2007, following which 21 persons were arrested in the case.

Among the accused, 11 persons, including Godse, were sentenced to life by a MCOCA court in August 2012. Godse was given a parole in April 2013 and was mandated to surrender before the prison authorities on June 10, 2013.

After he jumped parole, a case was registered with the Bhayander police station in that regard and police launched a hunt for him.

The crime branch has handed over Godse to the Bhyandar police and he will be sent to Nashik prison for completing his sentence in the case, added officials.

The dilemma of being overweight

When I go to the gym early in the morning, I notice some newcomers who seem very enthusiastic to achieve their goals. I generally hear them talking about diet and which exercise could prove to be beneficial. On the other hand, I find a group of girls not too fat but D shaped with belly fat, huge arms, some with heavy breast, or bloated lower body. All of them are struggling, jumping hopping, skipping like pigs and I am one of them. Gym is the perfect place to energize and feel fresh for the entire day. At the same time, it’s just a hidden den of many frustrated souls who can never loose pounds.

Jealous competitor
Fat lady on walker and a very fit and slim lady on another, you should always witness the first stare they give to each other. Eventually it turns in to a mini competition. Obviously the fat lady will be walking because she cannot run but her fitter counterpart will run which creates insecurity for the former. She doesn’t want to be left behind and starts jogging. As soon as the slim lady increases the speed the fat woman too emulates her. The fat woman might be thinking that “She is running as she is slim but she is anorexic”

Gym flirt
Obviously fitness center are famous for hot trainers. If a woman notice a hot trainer giving importance to the other girl who is better looking then there are involved in a tug of war. So these women try to fit into skinny clothes to display their curves. They stand next to the trainer who is busy training the beautiful girl and start distracting him by bending too much. They arch more than their capacity and start exercising by using heavy weights and pretend that those weights are unbearable. They also start moaning Ahh.. Ahhh.. ohh God… as the trainer intervenes and starts helping them and believe me some women literally moan.

GOSSIPS
If there are women then gossips are bound to happen. If some woman remains absent from the gym these ladies start gossiping while cycling and say “Hey she hasn’t come today”

A woman performing shavasan replies, “Oh yes. I have heard that she is having some disputes with her family.”

Followed by whispers “I heard it’s all about her husband”

“Oh my god I knew about it. I was reminding her about it but she was reluctant. I hope she knows the truth now I guess we should go and meet her once”

“Yes we should inquire with the trainer about the reason behind her absence he might be aware of it.” Later, they learn that the woman has gone for a trip along with her husband.

The lady performing shavasan gets up with a weird look and goes to the changing room. She says “That woman who is cycling inside is a bit mad she always talks about our husbands. I guess she is not satisfied with her husband” with a bad sarcastic smile. Believe me I have witnessed more than this.
