West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who strongly opposes the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stirred up a hornets’ nest after praised the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) saying that “all are not bad in the Sangh Pariwar” and a section of right-wing organisation does not support the policies followed by the BJP. “RSS was not so bad earlier, I don’t think they are bad now either. There are many people in the RSS who are good and don’t support the BJP. They will also break their silence one day,” said West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee.

Reacting to this, senior CPI(M) leader Sujan Chakrabarty hit back at the Chief Minister calling her an “opportunist” and “product” of the RSS.

“It is once again clear that TMC is not trustworthy in the fight against BJP,” said Sujan Chakrabarty. The sharpest reaction came from All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Chief Asaduddin Owaisi. “In 2003 too Mamata had called RSS “patriots”. In turn RSS had called her “Durga”.

RSS wants Hindu Rashtra. Its history is full of anti-Muslim hate crime. She’d defended BJP govt in Parliament after Gujarat pogrom. Hope TMC’s “Muslim faces” praise her for her honesty & consistency.”

Owaisi, which contested the assembly polls in Bengal, failed to win a single seat, including Muslim majority constituencies, where it positioned itself as opposed to both TMC and BJP. He had targeted the RSS, saying it wants “Hindu Rashtra.”

According to Owaisi, Mamata defended the BJP government in the Parliament after Gujarat riots. Meanwhile, BJP national vice-president Dilip Ghosh said neither the RSS nor the BJP needs a certificate from CM Banerjee.

The NIA, which is probing both Elgar Parishad as well as the Gadchiroli blast cases, relied on statements of certain protected witnesses offering “proof and relevance” to make the connection between the two cases. It is, however, unclear what role, if any, was played by Elgar Parishad accused in the blast case.

Last week, the special NIA court allowed the investigation agency to add statements of two former members of CPI (Maoist), referred as KW 2 and KW 3 in order to protect their identities, while hearing the Gadchiroli blast matter.

KW 2 and KW 3’s statements were originally recorded by the NIA in the Elghar Parishad case and are part of the chargesheets already filed before the court.

The NIA plea contended that the certified copies of the statements of the protected witnesses are being used by the prosecution as additional evidence in 2019 Gadchiroli blast case.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has claimed that Rona Wilson, an accused in the Elgar Parishad case, met with an accused who is wanted in the deaths of 15 police personnel in the Jamburkheda blast in Gadchiroli.

An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast had gone off in May 2019, and Bhupti (alias Sona/Abhay) who Wilson reportedly met, is one of the main accused but remains absconding.

The forensic expert who was examined by the prosecution last month also said during the cross-examination by the defence lawyers that he could not scientifically say that the explosives were kept beneath the bike’s seat. Pragya Thakur’s bike may have exploded accidentally says forensic experts. The prosecution last month examined the forensic expert who studied the scene of the offence, bike and other articles from the spot. The defence has alleged that the police planted the articles on the spot.
During the cross-examination by the defence, the witness said, “It is correct to say that scientifically it cannot be said that the explosive device was kept beneath the seat of the LML Freedom bike. It is correct to say that I had guessed that the explosive might have been kept beneath the seat of the bike. I did not find any proof that the explosive was kept beneath the seat of the bike.”
The witness claimed that during the spot examination, he could not find the centre point of the blast. The defence alleged that since the expert could not find any crater, detonator or wire it is possible that the articles could be planted at the place.

The microblogging site Twitter, on Thursday, announced that users will soon be able to edit their already published tweets, which comes as a big development on the platform.

Twitter Blue, a paid subscription service from Twitter, shared a picture of an edited tweet on their official account, which they captioned, “well well well, look what we’ve been testing….”

Meanwhile, Twitter, on the other hand, confirmed the arrival of the ‘Edit button’ news on their official account and wrote, “if you see an edited Tweet it’s because we’re testing the edit button, this is happening and you’ll be okay.”

Twitter Tweet

Users will be getting 30 minutes to edit their tweets, which is a bit longer than necessary to quickly edit a mistake. However, the 30-minutes duration is long enough to clarify or rephrase a tweet that could be igniting reactions or blow up and go viral for the wrong reasons.

Earlier, several people discovered the ‘Edit Tweet’ feature which has been in development for quite some time. It was unclear how the feature would appear to the users on Twitter. Speculations were also raised on how the edited tweet’s original text could be read.

According to reverse engineer Jane Manchun Wong, the ‘Edit Tweet’ button will allow users to create a new tweet with different content. But to make sure Twitter users know the tweet has been changed from the original, a label (alongside an icon of a small pen or pencil) will appear at the bottom of the tweet. The label’s text will simply say ‘Edited.’ And if users click on the word ‘Edited,’ they’ll be taken to the tweet’s edit history, as reported by TechCrunch.

Previously in the year 2020, a report in The Verge stated that Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey went on record saying that the company would “probably never” introduce an edit button.

PM Modi commissions India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday morning commissioned the first indigenous aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant in a ceremony at Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kochi.

Ahead of the commissioning, PM Modi received the Guard of Honour at the Shipyard recieved a Guard of Honour as he arrived for the Commissioning ceremony.

Designed by the Indian Navy’s in-house Warship Design Bureau (WDB) and built by Cochin Shipyard Limited, a Public Sector Shipyard under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Vikrant has been built with state-of-the-art automation features and is the largest ship ever built in the maritime history of India.

The Indigenous Aircraft Carrier is named after her illustrious predecessor, India’s first aircraft carrier, which had played a vital role in the 1971 war.

It has a large amount of indigenous equipment and machinery, involving major industrial houses in the country as well as over 100 MSMEs. With the commissioning of Vikrant, India will have two operational aircraft carriers, which will bolster the maritime security of the nation.

Speaking about the specifications of IAC Vikrant, Vice Admiral Hampiholi had said: “Vikrant carries a mix of about 30 aircraft. It could fly the MiG 29k fighter aircraft in anti-air, anti-surface and land attack roles.

It will be able to operate the Kamov 31 which is an early air warning helicopter, the recently inducted but yet-to-be commissioned MH-60R which is a multi-role helicopter as also our very indigenous ALH. It displaces about 45,000 tonnes which is definitely the largest warship in the Indian naval inventory.

The ship would be capable of operating an air wing consisting of 30 aircraft comprising of MIG-29K fighter jets, Kamov-31, MH-60R multi-role helicopters, in addition to indigenously manufactured Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH) and Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) (Navy).

Using a novel aircraft-operation mode known as STOBAR (Short Take-Off but Arrested Landing), the IAC is equipped with a ski- jump for launching aircraft, and a set of ‘arrester wires’ for their recovery onboard.
